Why can't police find the escaped prisoner in Philly?

Yeah I mean there are 400+ LEO on the ground and they haven't been able to get him in 10 days?? I realize not all 400 have been there the whole time. I don't think they took it seriously enough the first few days - bc reporters would be posted places saying - well LEO appears to be pulling out/leaving for the night?? Uh pretty sure he moves at night. Why weren't they at least setting up clandestine operations at Longwood Gardens at night to see if he showed up again to grab food?! Assuming he knows how to survive in the Amazon, I wouldn't be surprised if he just spends his days sleeping in a tree to not be seen and also to conserve energy esp in the heat and then moves at night to get food and water from the many nearby creeks.

Why would there be an assumption that he knows how to survive in a jungle just cause he’s from Brazil? Is there some history of this from him?

He murdered someone in Brazil and then escaped authorities in the jungle. So yes.

Usually there's an ICE detainer. So you serve your time in the US for whatever you did here and then are deported after that. Would be more cost efficient to just deport him as soon as he's found, but that's typically not how it's done. And nowadays with the border, it'd pretty much ensure that he gets deported, nothing happens to him in Brazil, he strolls on back here.

that's how he avoided being captured in Brazil. he found refuge in the jungles there and if I remember correctly, he trekked his way to Puerto Rico and then managed to enter the United States illegally. this man has nothing to lose and sadly I really think that this will eventually end very badly. I can't see him peacefully surrendering and serving the life sentence in prison. I'm betting that it ends with suicide by police or finds himself some hostages. either way, the victims of this evil human being will never get the justice that they deserve!

If any is injured, they should sue. Someone else escaped the same way 5 months ago.

Trekked? Puerto Rico isn't connected via land mass to Brazil. At least, last time I checked it wasn't.

The US wants him to serve time his time here first before extradition. Kinda a win fir the gut, though, given how notorious Brazilian jails are.

All the above. I think defund the police means stop giving these departments massive budgets (and power) because when it is time to do their jobs, they are woefully inept. They either over-act with poor or no results (like the LA protests against nurses), or like flying helicopters constantly around phoenixville PA but then turning in for the night to watch COPS and eat pizza. Or they kill people at routine traffic stops and then the taxpayers foot the bill on their huge budgets for lawsuits. Or they do nothing, like Uvalde. I appreciate this could be its own thread but just trying to fit this latest police eff up into the context of our reality today.

So per the PP, this is shameful and embarrassing and the whole dept needs to be justified from scratch. Just add it to the list.

I wonder if he has someone helping him. Like those weirdoes who write love letters to prisoners.

Apparently he found somewhere to shave and has stolen a dairy truck. He was spotted 25 miles northeast of the prison.

Did you see the video of his escape? Don’t get me wrong - I want him to be caught but that was an impressive escape

Op here. Totally agree.

Seriously after watching that there’s a part of me that’s rooting for him. That was awesome.

pp I can not believe you are rooting for this guy. I bet you would feel differently if it was your family member he stabbed.

Worse than keystone cops. None of them should be cops. How many cops does it take to find 1 man who was wandering around in a public garden for more than a week? He may have gotten tired of wandering around, and may have found a way to shave and has found a vehicle to take off in...........

If this were the case, wouldn't he have left the area a while ago? Not be spotted several times a day?

The guy is an experienced, fearless pro at being a criminal with survival skills.
