To add on, I don't think superstores have an 'obligation' to subsidize theft. The city needs to partner, and make this feasible somehow.

I honestly find this so sad.

My grandmother lived EOTR and didn’t drive. She spent hours commuting by bus to work. Once a week we’d pick her up and take her to the bank and grocery shopping (partly because she’d been mugged doing this on her own).

These are the people who will be hurt if this store closes, which I expect it will.

See this is my biggest gripe with white liberals...I, an AA woman, have just said its a cultural problem, largely affecting youth in MY race who want to emulate these stupid influencers, gang members and rappers in the absence of a father or mother figure. Not just boys but girls increasingly. If I see more than one black girl on a subway car, I look for another car or wait for another train. Wherever two or more of them are gathered, there is going to be at a minum loud cursing and hassling of other passengers.

When was the last time you saw a bunch of Mormon teenagers carjacking, raging through Target or threatening people on public transportation. And the missionary kids don't count.

You can argue about why some teens behave this way and others don't but you still can acknowledge which teens do and why they should be disciplined. Denying or hiding issues doesn't help these teens. You are doing a disservice.

No, they can't. I've lived near there and chose to go to other stores or get delivery. Instacart groceries may not be 100% reliable but at least I'm not in the middle of a crime scene.

Hate to break it to you but there is plenty of crime associated with instacart shoppers. That’s not necessarily a better alternative.

Please say more. From my perspective, I order groceries, pay for them and have them delivered to my house. That's much better than being in a store while someone is looting it or, as someone noted is happening elsewhere in another post, getting mugged in the parking lot.

In my mom’s Detroit neighborhood more deliveries marks you as someone with some means. Porch pirates abound, but they are getting more brazen too.

Thank you for the info. I've seen lots of stories about credit card fraud from online purchases or even in person purchases from machines that clone cards. The risk of that kind of scam is still preferable to me to going into a store where there is looting or a chance of getting mugged in a parking lot for groceries.
