How much money do you give your new college grad a month to get started?

We paid for her college. We want her to be self sufficient, so the answer is zero.

We helped DS furnish his apartment, paid for the UHaul truck and helped with the move.

He paid the security deposit but we had to guarantee the rent. I don’t know how young people do this by themselves as they need to make at least 3x rent and that’s tough starting out.

We pay for the phone, health and dental insurance (and any copays etc), and trips home. Helped stock the apartment with basics when he lived in, and occasionally take him to buy groceries. We pay for train rides home. He doesn’t have a car nor does he need one.

this seems very reasonable

It’s about what my parents did for me. He’s making it work in Philly for about $40K. Not bad for a new grad.

I wouldn't pay for the phone or medical co-pays, but otherwise this seems fine.
My daughter is staying in our area so she had a choice--live with us rent-free or pay her own rent. So far, she's living with us.
