I thought I had improved….

I have a fever and chills. The sores are almost gone.

I’ve got like level 8/9 pain in my upper back/shoulders and behind my sternum.

I’m so freaking angry right now. Currently in La Jolla on a beach vacation with DH and small kids and I can’t get out of bed.

Is this COVID after all? I tested negative for it twice, but can this really be HFM?

Why are you continuing to ask people on DCUM when you have a diagnosis from a medical professional?

Op here. Because I’m in bed and feeling anxious!

It’s now been 10 days since symptoms started and I’m back to square one. Doesn’t that seem odd? I’m thinking I’ve picked up a new bug (covid?).

When DH had HFM, he was bedridden for 2+ weeks. It was brutal. I’d never seen him that sick. Sounds like you need to let this run its course. And stay off DCUM. It doesn’t help your recovery.

Op
Here. Good to know.

The fever has come roaring back and I can’t sleep. This is so freaking awful. Just lying in bed thinking about how I’ll get through tomorrow on no sleep and exhausted from fevers.

Why am I unable to sleep whenever I get super sick? That’s honestly the worst part. I need to sleep so badly and I can’t. And the sicker I am, the less I can sleep. It’s so unbelievably awful.

I’m so angry and bitter and miserable right now.

How much children’s Tylenol can I take? I’m maxed out on ibuprofen, and we only have the kids version. I took 15 ml, but can I take more?

Please go to a doctor today, either urgent care or the ER. San Diego has some of the best medical care in the US. Let us know if you need a recommendation, I grew up there and my parents lived there until they died in their old age. If your fever went away and came back you probably have a secondary bacterial infection like bronchitis or pneumonia and need antibiotics.

So you traveled here to San Diego and brought this with you? You went on vacation while you were still feeling so sick that you're in bed? I don't understand you OP. There is something off about this whole thing. I've read every post from the start, this entire story is weird.

HFM can lead to viral meningitis.

Instead of posting here, you should go immediately and seek medical attention.

OP's entire story is strange, odd, and weird. For example, why not lean on your DH for advice on this instead of frantically seeking advice on a public forum while you feel like you're dying. Give me a break. Enough with the theatrics!

OP claims they have level 8/9 pain and are posting on DCUM about it. LOL.

Op here. We have small children and my DH is taking care of them since I cannot. Last night he was asleep when I was posting here.

Op here. I had several consecutive days of significant improvement and I thought I was mostly better.

And strangely, I feel pretty much ok in the mornings (able to hike! Swim! Etc.). But afternoon hits and I get very sick. But I had several days where I was fine all day long, so I believed I was well enough to travel.

We don’t live in DC-we are in Phoenix so San Diego is a driveable trip for us.

I only slept 4 hours last night but feel ok now. But I know that come afternoon/evening, the pain and fever will be back.

That's truly selfish to hike, swim, do all sorts of things while sick.

Then you need a full work up. Get an appt for complete blood work and don't stop until you have your answer.

Got it. I live in coastal Southern California and while we do get invaded by AZ, I've never heard this term.

Op here. I ended up having chest pain and was having trouble breathing so I did go to the doc.

They did an EKG, it was normal.

Lungs and O2 both good.

They are doing blood work but overall said that the upper back/neck pain is part of the inflammation that comes from the HFM.

The doc confirmed that for adults, HFM can be awful.

I’m just on day 12 of being sick and feeling discouraged.

Thanks to all the replies, I’m glad I went to the doc.

When I had Lyme, I woke up feeling sick and gradually felt better during the day.
