The are both positive and negative gender stereotypes for both men and women. Yes, "toxic masculinity" exists, but so does toxic femininity. I agree with you that we certainly do hear a lot more about toxic masculinity. I don't think that positive masculinity was meme'd out of existence or that so-called toxic masculinity is required for positive masculinity. |
Wow, thank you for this profound, universal truth. Hallelujah, you've shown me the truth with just your six words, PP. I've been so blind! I'm going to have to remember your truth bomb tonight when my raging liberal DH is apparently doing a truly incredible acting job of being intensely heterosexual in bed. |
He has such pretty, long blond hair. Like all truly masculine men. |
DP. We do talk a little about toxic femininity but I don't think we call it that as much. Like, people call out the "trad wives" all the time. Other manifestations of toxic femininity, like using sex to manipulate men or discouraging men from showing emotions other than anger are a little more difficult to nail down than the toxic masculine traits, but I think there is a decent amount of discourse about that too. |
Toxic masculinity and toxic feminity traits both exist, but only one of them can replicate at scale via the internet. |
Of course gay people would be Liberals. Why would they support Rs who demonize them all the time. |
You'd be surprised how many Ls and Gs could happily do without the best of the alphabet. Ingroups, by definition, constantly raise the barrier to admission. No one can stay progressive enough. |
Women Zoomers love masculine men because they’re so rare in their circles. |
| 10 year old tweet from Rick Wilson? Odd choice, but okay. |
What? I am the PP, and I have three daughters. I care very much about their rights to vote and their rights as citizens. One of the most masculine traits is staying true to your beliefs regarding right and wrong. I can enjoy a conservative woman's company as well as a liberal woman's company. I am most concerned with who they are and how they treat the people they care about. Many women equate masculinity with a male that treats women dismissively. It is because these women are screwed up. A real man is a gentleman in thought, word, and deed. |
You are into androgynous types? |
What makes this masculine, exactly? |
I have a vague notion of what PP thinks it means, but it only really works when the belief is noble and involves the guy holding onto it despite adversity. This isn’t a particularly gendered trait. And, in any event, when the belief is nonsense or harmful, sticking to it is actively wrong. |
| This doesn’t address the big picture of the subject, but the specific woman in the video doesn’t offer what a masculine man would want in a partner. |
Yup. 100% |
