Your son is playing on two teams in the same league? Thats a thing?

Stars only checks rosters if a coach requests it. Last year a girls team was DQ'd because of it

Only playing on one, just citing inconsistency in roster formations.

Our community org is playing in Stars and we just finished summer tryouts Friday, so the rosters definitely aren't due in yet.

Ha, the last year before Covid, my son's team was playing a Stars team in the Stars league. His coach asked for a roster check and they had two non-rostered kids on the court. The Stars teams are sketchy.

The Stars teams are 13U etc, which is different from playing grade-level. They will have some older kids than the "grade level" county teams they play.

That happens a lot with Shotsup. There may be 40 teams in on division. A lot of kids play on more than one team. I have seen a kid play on 4 different teams in the same division.

This isn’t the NBA. I don’t mind if a kid playing isn’t on the roster as long as they are the right age. What pisses me off is when they bring in older kids to win.

i think the issue is that if they aren't on the roster, you have no idea how old they are. you can have a huge roster in these leagues, there is no reason not to have a kid on the roster who is going to play UNLESS you are cheating.

Shotsup summer league went out of business though.

Guest playing happens frequently in soccer when teams experience injuries and need help filling out a roster--I agree with the other post, if they are the right age AND the team clearly needs some players to A: simply field a team or B: at least have some subs (e.g. up to 5 subs), then go for it. I do believe of course some folks just add players to win.

Nonsense. You have to follow the rules of the league you are playing in. The Stars league requires players to be listed on the original and official roster to play, so you can't have randoms showing up. You play in a soccer league that allows guest players, that's completely different.

Do your kids play travel basketball? Guest playing in soccer is irrelevant.

The reason most credible basketball leagues require kids to be on the submitted/approved roster is because unlike most other sports, one player the wrong age can make a huge difference in the game.

How can you tell if a bunch of random kids are the "right" age? You can't, just by looking. That's why the roster needs to match the kids who are at the game.
