You can admit that you are wrong! It's ok. Everyone makes mistakes. |
My son was on a team in 2020 and I don't believe this. First of all the coaches aren't paid; they're volunteers. We did not get harassed to pay the fees that year. |
The Annandale team includes the Falls Church zips |
Generally agree but the 5th grade boys division this year includes Nova94’s B team and Stars A team |
Do they have different divisions? Or are they just jumbled up with random teams of rec kids? That doesn't seem very fun. |
Vienna, McLean, and James Lee all had them too. |
Great question and I may ask as we are on a team that will likely get slaughtered by Stars A team. Stupid and not the point of this league. |

The AAU orgs discovered Little Legends is a good deal to save on county gym fees with added bonus of games between tournaments.
If I was a parent paying high AAU fees (and both those orgs probably charge at least $800 per season), I’d have a problem paying $$ for my kid to play in a rec league. But the teams must be training for the summer Fairfax Stars league. |
Normally AAU teams don’t play legends. If they do, they are probably playing up Against older kids unless maybe the talent level is just low. |
Yes, some low level AAU teams play in Little legends. We have seen Stars, Cavs, Nova 94 teams. Not usually the top level teams, but perhaps a B level team. Most teams in Legends are rec plus. Some county travel team kids who played Arlington/McLean select. Also some rec kids who want to keep playing in the spring but don’t want AAU. My kid who plays on a Little Legends team plays for a shoe-circuit team plays for fun with his friends. He prioritizes his AAU team. Also Mclean Select is basically the Nova 94 14u orange team. They do not play in Legends but played in Stars summer league. No top tier AAU team will play in legends as comp level is too easy. |
The guy who runs it is great, Mark If a team is too good for its age group, they will be forced to play up an age division. So if there is a good 6th grade AAU team in the league, they will play up to the 7/8 division. |
They aren’t Nova94 anymore. That team and coach went to the Novacavs. |
| I am poster with the 6th DS. We are in Arlington but happy to go elsewhere if there is a team. |
| Any recommendations for Summer league teams in Montgomery county for high school girls? |
|
Just bumping this up. Does anyone know of any other northern va leagues besides the Stars league and the St James league?
The Stars league is basically defunct. They are only having 6 games for basically the same cost as 10 games last year, so that's obviously out. Our organization only runs winter and summer teams so we are not looking for elite competition! |
