I really don’t like the way Shotsup is ran, but if you want player development, thanks the best option in Virginia right now, probably the whole DMV since the best Maryland and DC teams compete it it as well.

Can someone link to Virginia Hokies? I can't seem to find it.

It looks like they are defunct.

No, they are still doing tournaments and have a spring league going on. The man running it’s name is Kip 703-231-7204.

Of all the sports, basketball travel teams and leagues seem to be the worst at actually being able to find information

The same way that swim parents would know to download meet mobile. There are a couple of apps that aau tournaments use and most parents end up downloading them because the tournaments use them to show game times and locations

According to that app, shotsup is only charging $625 for the summer league. If Stars is $800, thats a big price difference.

The Stars gym locations were not convenient at all for us last summer, in addition to all the other issues. I would rather always know we had to go to the St J location which is not great but not terrible for us.
We are in Great Falls and last summer had most of our games at Edison, South County, Bryant HS.

How is the Reston summer league?

Just curious as we are looking for something for our 6th grade boy who plays in winter Fairfax travel league, you all have teams and are trying to figure out where to register them? or do you have individual kids who are looking to play - I have the latter and can't decipher the whole thing

Some of the teams who play in fcybl will do summer teams. Tryouts in May usually. Those teams either play in Stars league or the St James league. The team your 6th grader played on in the winter will probably also do a summer team.

e-mail his coach to ask if your club participates. The teams in summer leagues are usually preformed and just playing in their offseason. FCBYL teams with lots of AAU players are less likely to play if the AAU players stick with their aau teams

The county teams that don't have an in house AAU program will hold try outs for their summer teams. Whether those tryouts are just for show or not, who knows.
