The king and queen were both just too old (not sure what sort of skills they had to start with). And Harry just seems sort of impetuous. The family really needed someone with decent EQ and mediation skills and it seems like they just don’t have that.

Couldn’t that have been Meghan if she weren’t so hostile to the institution?

It is Kate. But she didn't seem to take to Meghan immediately, whether personality clash or just slow-to-warm. Also, Kate is British, so she helped the brothers connect but she's not going to intervene against their wishes.

Eh, a lot of people don't warm up to their future SIL or brother's girlfriends.

Plus M is an outsider, NOT b/c of her skin color but bc she's an American (doesn't understand or respect the nuances of Roylaty).

+1 the part about meeting them in ripped jeans and barefoot -- it's supposed to make M seem sympathetic and relatable, but who doesn't put in a bit of effort and thought about their company when trying to make a good impression on your BF's brother and SIL? And that's even apart from the fact that this is the BRF.

It's almost 2023. Designer ripped jeans are just as expensive as designer pants.

It's not about whether the clothes were expensive - I'm sure hers were. Would you wear them to church or a job interview? Or would you want to try to look somewhat "dressed up" esp when you can see what your BIL and SIL are like.

I understand that she might have felt Kate was formal, standoffish, not as fun 6 years ago when they met, but now in hindsight, of course there were stark differences: M. was living a carefree life, loved her job on her show, was a minor celeb but not at all famous enough to be hounded or lose any freedoms, had her life of friends and travel and yoga. Kate at that time was married to the future King and was living a life of service, had 2 young children, had been married for years by then, had been ripped apart by the press....of course she wasn't going to be in ripped jeans and bare feet and totes chill. I mean they were in 2 very different stages of life.

I just think by now as a mom and a wife and seeing what the royal life is like she would be more understanding. Including that remark seemed super petty.

Not only that, she was very pregnant when they met and immediately post-partum during the wedding preparations. Do you think Megan asked her how she was feeling?

Were you there? Wow you people are so quick to fall for the white women crocodile tears. And I'm a white woman. Open your eyes.

Was it well done? I read that the picture they show of the press coverage is really from a Harry Potter premiere, not press hounding them, and that there is a note that the royal family declined to comment but the royal family denies this. So, a couple examples of maybe how it wasn't well edited or vetted?

Anyone who has even an inkling of production experience knows that using stock B-roll is completely standard procedure. If you start looking for stock footage in all trailers (especially for documentaries/newsy pieces), you’ll be in for a shock.

Honestly, the furor over that non-issue really opened my eyes to how biased the media is against them. They also did not edit this trailer, obviously.

The niece was brought in to the documentary to show that Meghan has a relationship with one family member. Given the brouhaha around other family members, it is not surprising that Meghan was easily persuaded not to invite her. The revelation about the niece is the same reason Meghan’s mother did the extensive interview. They have to show that Harry has a family now that he has left his birth family. It is a classic PR move to rewrite family dynamics.

So you mean to tell me that even though the intrusion of the press and media was integral to their story and a major part of why they were forced to leave they couldn’t find enough of their own footage to use? They just had to source stock footage to illustrate their point?

The lady (and man) doth protest too much, methinks.

Selling their relationship as some sort of grand love story is ridiculous. It’s all entirely predictable so this must be the last time they can cover these topics though, right? Let them have their last word or get out their version of the story and for the love of God, then let’s put the matter to rest!

They were paid $100 MILLION dollars to look “relatable.” That is not relatable to many.

They really should edit Harry's name out of the title. It's all Meghan all the time.

Likewise, Kate could have taken Meghan under her wing, knowing what she would inevitably experience. She’d experienced the waity Kaity years, etc. In effect, she threw Meghan under the bus early on

No, she needed to make sure Meghan was worth the effort. Kate was right to wait it out.

No they are telling you that in a major production like this when editors are in the editing room if they don't like what someone provided they just splice in some stock footage. It isn't like they went to the H&M team to ask them about this, they would have just looked up 'footage with a lot of cameras' in whatever giant pile of footage they have access too and spliced it in.

We have the word of Meghan who’s prone to bending the truth. And she knows Kate can’t defend herself so it’s a pretty cheap shot.

Oh right. Because even though this is their telling, they didn’t have anything to do with this wildly misleading part of it. Just like everything else, they are never to blame when the media is portraying them a certain way that turns out to be false. Always someone else’s fault. I’m beginning to see a pattern here…
