I'm a reluctant sailor, having taken some lessons with DH, who's passionate about it but discovered it late in life. A colleague who's really into sailing found out about our recent training and asked us to join her team in sail racing. I dreaded it, given our inexperience, but ended up loving every minute. It was exhilarating, and our team was laid back and fun.

Agreed, DH wrote into our wedding vows my learning to sail. Went to J-World in Annapolis, took a women's intro to sailing class. That weekend class piqued my interest in performance sailing. Found myself a race boat and have been part of the crew for a few seasons now. It's far more fun than I ever imagined. I thank my DH for encouraging me to learn to sail. Together we've enjoyed many weekends chartering on the Chesapeake Bay, the Florida Keys, and this summer New England.

The action is on the water, from afar sailboat racing looks much like golf - slow and boring. On the water, the action is in crossings and mark roundings. I've found my jam, and look forward to my weeknight sailboat racing with the girls

90 mins is a long time everyday! Do you listen to music? Have you gotten into better shape? I taught water aerobics in my late teens/early twenties lol

No I don’t listen to music . I don’t think I’ve gotten in much better shape either. But I do really enjoy it. It sure makes me tired. I nap when I get home .

DP here. Do you walk on place?

Sitting outside in nice weather watching my kids in the moment, chatting with other parents. Then when indoor places stopped allowing parents to sit inside and I had to wait in my car, I caught up on my online to-do lists, called my mom, answered emails. Sometimes sat in silence. My DH has offered to take over and I sigh and grumble and act like a martyr so he is too intimidated to take it on.

I love it, too, though I have learned that I much prefer the outside stuff to indoors. The fresh air does me good.

I love it too. And I know SOOO many people on DCUM think I'm crazy for sitting and watching DD in her softball practice, but I don't care. Its fresh air, conversation with other parents, and the pleasure from watching my child do something she loves.

I actually look forward to it

I grew up in Arizona and didn’t even apply to colleges anywhere cold, even though we grew up skiing. Live in Colorado now and I really enjoy shoveling snow.

Zip-lining, on the other hand, I was 100% correct about. NEVER doing that again.

We don't have carpet in our house, but growing up in the 80's there was freshening powder that you would periodically shake about the carpet before vacuuming. I liked that.

Agreed, always found Pickleball to be great fun.

While in Florida played Pickleball naked at a nearby nudist resort. I don't want to play with clothes on again. I dread returning to the DMV in the spring and having to return to wearing clothes on the Pickelball court. It feels so natural to play without clothes.

Who would have thought that a simple game of Pickleball would be so enjoyable played sans clothing. Ironic that naked tennis never caught on, but naked Pickleball is all the rage at nudist resorts around the US.

Played Pickleball with friends just the other day, and my outfit was soaked with sweat. I kept thinking to myself how much better would I feel if I were playing naked......

I couldn't agree more, playing Pickleball naked is great. Been enjoying playing all summer at Pine Tree in Annapolis, MD. What a great place - all the benefits of many area swim clubs without the pretentiousness, and 'Karens' of the world. Nothing like enjoying he pool after many rounds of Pickleball, and the Saturday afternoon social - free beer and wine!!

DH and I can't believe more people haven't discovered Pine Tree - what a great place, and so close to home.

My g/f and I have been there a couple times and like it a lot!

I really did not want to volunteer my time - but said person convinced me it would be something fun for me to try.

I had to step outside my comfort zone a bit > which I felt helped me grow so much as a person.

I made great memories as well as made lifetime friends. ❤️❤️

Best of all…..
What I did made a huge difference in the lives of many children which is something that I will be proud of for the rest of my life.

This makes me so happy! Thank you for sharing
