Upcycling and painting furniture.

I find it so freaking soothing to tape it off, trim, paint... everything about it!

I was dreading it the first time I did it as an adult because I remembered my parents always bickering. I have no idea what their issues were because I found it so fun and relaxing!

The best part of painting is scraping the old peeled paint off the exterior of the house. It’s like picking scabs, but is weirdly satisfying.

90 mins is a long time everyday! Do you listen to music? Have you gotten into better shape? I taught water aerobics in my late teens/early twenties lol

I love this for you!

I do too!

And I have also been spreading native wildflower seeds at the sides of the trails since the pandemic, and it is wonderful to see some of the patches bloom and look very colorful. It just makes me very, very happy.

Lovely!

Chopppin broc-coliiiii. C'mon man nobody gets this reference?

One activity I found surprisingly satisfying this past winter was shelling nuts. Back in the day my parents always had nuts in the shell hanging around, along with crackers and picks. I never got it. During Covid I had a ton of pecans to shell from my parent's tree. I put on satellite radio, got a class of wine and shelled away. It was surprisingly calming. I made an awesome pie this Thanksgiving.

I got it and now that song is in my head lol

Shoveling snow- it so satisfying to see the cleared path and finished product and get good exercise.
Also love shucking corn outside- my dad would always send me to the compost heap in the back yard and I’d just stand there making as big a mess as I needed to do.

+1 to shoveling snow

I have recently discovered that playing Pokemon Go! with my 1st grader is really fun for both of us! Score!

Watching one of my kids play volleyball. My other kid is in a highly competitive, high pressure sports league, but my volleyballer is in a low level club that just wants to play and have fun. The games are so low key that it is a wonderful change of pace. I look forward to them and have so much fun. When I go to my other kid's games, it is so stressful.

Another +1 for yard work of various kinds. Including shoveling snow. It's a great workout, but you have to remember to switch arms.

Some less popular ones:

Driving, on long highway road trips. Great excuse to catch up on podcasts, audiobooks, and nostalgia playlists.

Working. As in deep work, actually getting into the nitty gritty and thinking hard about a project. NOT meetings and emails and corporate crap.

Putting clean laundry away

Lifting heavy objects without assistance. I like feeling strong for my size and gender.

If you are the same poster with the description of the Lily Pulitzer flag in the "Southern Flag" thread, can we please meet? I'm dying here.

Oh I got it. "My lady she went downtown and brought some broccoli...She bought it all!"
