Why do rich men seem to heavily prefer very skinny women? Even over a beautiful face?

I’m not saying rich men think about clothes but subconsciously they do want a woman who knows how to look rich.

I don’t think men are looking for women who look rich.

I think that women who are rich want to look rich. I do t really think it has much to do with the men.

It's all part of the lifestyle. They will look better in clothes if they are thin, for one. But, they are also usually very active. They run, ski, hike, golf, play tennis, do yoga, Pliates, HIIT, etc. They are often toned and athletic. I'm not seeing the skin and bones in younger rich women, that maybe was true of the previous generations, but not anymore. If you are very overweight you do stand out like a sore thumb in these circles. Has OP ever said where she sees all these rich men with butter face stick thin women? What kind of places is she hanging out in?

it's still true in the older generations of wealth. These women are on the Nancy Reagan diet

Are you saying they are also inactive and smoking like older generations? I think they still ski, run marathons, tennis, etc.

Probably a lot of hot women come by it naturally in their 20s, and then being rich allows them to stay focused on body maintenance for the next few decades.

Maybe true. Sounds really awful to be a woman who has to have a major focus on body maintenance in their 40s and 50s or else face divorce/ being switched out for a newer model.

Some of us enjoy exercise and don’t want to eat garbage. Few of our grandparents were fat so it’s not like it’s some major accomplishment.

My grandma was fat. Not when she got married, but definitely by the time she was in her 40’s. She lived on a farm and exercise and whole food was a way of life. It’s normal to gain weight as you get older.

My grandma was the same. They eat a lot of pies and other bakery in the farms

I think this is it.

David Beckham seems like the perfectionist who wanted a woman as driven as him and didn’t want a woman who was content to be a SAHM and just Mrs Becks. Say what you want about Victoria, but she is possibly even more driven and career oriented than him and seems incredibly busy by choice.

These women don’t run marathons. Marathon running is more for the younger nouveau riche tech set.

I’m very thin and it’s actually not a good way to age because your risk of osteoporosis skyrockets. I should be doing more weight bearing exercises but…life.

Of course she could be so motivated, fit in body and mind that she decides she doesn’t need her rich workaholic husband. See: Gisele

It’s normal to gain some weight. It’s not normal to get fat. Americans seems to have accepted obesity as their fate and they’ve totally given up. I just don’t understand it.

It’s not just older American women. What about all those older Ukrainian women, Russian women, Italian woman….Grandmas from around the world get heavy, but they have strong arms, strong hands from all the cooking and rolling and carrying. They’re not lazy at all, but no one expects them to look 30 years old. And they’re RESPECTED. People aren’t revolted by them.

And the women they have affairs with, what do they tend to look like? From an evolutionary perspective, when you are a high status male there's some tension btwn prioritizing different fitness pay offs. But it's only with the rise of monogamy that alphas have had to make a choice at all.

I'd say most of the time with curvy women. Which is why it's so interesting

Yeah, that's sort of what I'm getting at. In our society alphas see tall/thin as abetter match in terms of maintaining social capital for themselves and their children. That about sums it up. But I think women internalize this and it fuels inter-female competition even though most men don't find tall/thing objectively more desirable.

That's probably very true. As in the scene from Legally Blonde. "Elle, if I'm gonna be a senator by the time I'm 30, I need to marry a Jackie, not a Marilyn"

All the Lizzo fans be damned. This does change with age. After the looks have worn off, men look for sweet and nice to live with and looks become secondary.

Hmm I've been overweight and size thin, it didn't change my "options"
