I’ll take a speech impediment over dishonesty any day thank you very much.

It's not a "speech impediment." It's aphasia and severe acute cognitive decline following a massive stroke. This is very serious and, in any sane world, his family and handlers should have pulled him out of this months ago.

Last night simply revealed what many of us have suspected: Fetterman has been in hiding, enabled by the Ds and a complicit media, because he is seriously ill.

Last night showed that he is recovering well from the stroke. He was seriously ill and now he is much better. He communicated his points, not elegantly but successfully.

You'd have seen that if you actually watched.

Possibly recovering "well," considering the condition he was in back in May, but he is in no way fit to serve in the US Senate. That is what was being judged last night and why everyone is so shocked now.

Your party is still flogging the actually brain damaged Herschel Walker.

We're not talking about Herschel Walker in this thread, although I agree with you that he is not the brightest bulb on the tree. Would I vote for him in GA? Yes. But he is far from an ideal candidate.

Thank you for being honest about your hypocrisy.

How is this hypocritical? If I live in GA, I have a choice between 2 candidates. If I live in PA I have a choice between two candidates. In either case, I must make a decision. Do you not understand that?

Sad. Very, very sad.

And yes, this will be the end of Fetterman.

It was no where near as bad as these people on twitter are making it out to be
Yes he stumbled a little more than the average politician during a debate but all things considered having had a stroke not long ago he did really well

Nonetheless no I wouldn’t vote for him at this time. Having a stroke has physical and cognitive side effects. It is possible that with the passage of time both improve but it’s not a given. There is also quite a bit of follow up medical appts and monitoring. And once a person has a stroke they are far more likely to suffer another. He needs to put time and effort into healing and that is where his energy will eventually be needed. He can continue to push himself but he will likely burn out it worse suffer another stroke. I know someone who struggled with aphasia after a stroke. It took a few months to get back to a level where he didn’t have to struggle for the most common words and about a year out, he only struggled if he became very tired. It didn’t go away completely it just improved.

According to Fetterman he doesn’t even have aphasia. So I guess he’s not telling the truth?

Members of Congress get cancer and go out for months for treatment & recovery….including multiple bouts of cancer. Steve Scalise was shot and out of commission for months. Tons of members of congress have serious medical conditions that require ongoing care, including Senator McConnell.

Fetterman will be fine and improve with time. He will have doctors in both DC and PA helping with ongoing speech therapy.

This is truly a nothingburger. The guy isn’t a vegetable, he can think and write. Debate and speech is mostly dead in the Senate.

There is no way to know today if that is true. Even his doctors aren't going to tell him that for sure. It's not a definite. He might not improve and all the speech therapy in the world won't make a difference.

It's definitely not a nothingburger. It is a real issue.

It's not a "speech therapy" issue. It is severe cognitive impairment, as a result of the stroke. All I can say is that Mrs. Fetterman is another Mrs. Biden - power hungry women who will literally throw their husbands to the wolves, just for a chance to be in power.

Aphasia is not a "severe cognitive impairment," you shameless liar.

The hypocrisy is that you will vote for whoever has an R next to their name - you say you care about "fitness" or cognitive or speaking abilities but you don't.

I’m sorry, but has everyone forgotten the mangled, convoluted, nonsensical statements Trump used to make on a regular basis? Or Sarah Palin’s word salad? This guy had a stroke and he seems to be 100% more sane than either of them, who couldn’t have a straight thought not because they were recovering from a TBI but because they were incapable of having any principles.

All my PA friends are voting for Fetterman because they know Oz is a sham and is out to do maximum harm.

Really? I'll take that bet. lol

Did he have stumbles, absolutely, but it’s not a sign of cognitive decline. They say the same about Biden, who has never been an eloquent speaker even in his younger days.

The flubs by Trump and Walker have been way worse, yet people had and will vote for them. Put up some Trump clips, there are some really hilarious ones where he makes no sense, sound like he is having a stroke at the moment. You want an eloquent speaker, then Obama should have had 100% of the vote when he ran.

OP again — will this debate matter much to voters? Will he garner sympathy votes to help get him across the line?

It’s a blue state. He’ll win.

I dunno. I drove through PA to get home to Detroit and there are a lot of signs on private properties supporting Trump. Ditto on my way up through Philly (blue) to W-B / Scranton (visited a cousin outside Wilkes-Barre, so not Biden’s hometown exactly). I don’t know a lot about the contemporary PA mindset outside a handful of people there and in Philly plus the road signs.

Those signs are on long stretches of country with populations of less than 10. A single person making a big splash on a highway.

And that is so offensive. I had a stroke when I was 35 (35!). My speech was, yeah, it was bad for awhile, but my cognitive functioning remained the same. This whole thread is kind of disgusting and full of misinformation. Makes me sad.

And Trump won one election, so Fetterman has a chance.

Pretty funny seeing the MAGAs pretending to think that speaking coherently is some kind of qualification for political office.

Why do YOU think his speech tonight is an issue? I don’t think it will matter. Clearly you don’t support the man.

I don't think it's an issue, which should be pretty obvious from my comment.

Look up clips from Sarah Cooper, who lip syncs Trump. It gets across how incoherent his statements really are, hilarious!
