Billionaire heiress abducted during her Friday morning run in Memphis

She also has kind of vacant look in the eyes that is subtle but I see in a lot of autistic people. It would also explain hyper fixation on running, making unsafe choices like going for a run at 4:30 am and not understanding and following implied WASPy norms/obligations—aka marrying someone outside of her “caste” as one PP put it (gross).

wtf? This is truly bizarre

I just finished my hour long run. My husband does not dictate when I run. Of course, I have no idea if he “did it” or not, but women running at 4:30am are not unusual. I do it because I can get my exercise done before it’s too hot.

I know someone who knows her. She’s not autistic, even though that would make no difference. Also, teachers often have to do stuff for themselves very early in the morning.

The man driving the vehicle was charged.

Memphis Police Dept
@MEM_PoliceDept
UPDATE: The individual who was detained has been officially charged in connection with the abduction of Eliza Fletcher. At this point in the investigation, Cleotha Abston, 38, has been charged with Especially Aggravated Kidnapping and Tampering with Evidence.

Looks like he did the same thing 21 years ago:

This is why I left DC for the burbs. Seems Memphis has similar issues. Aggressive criminals should not be out on the street.

Presumably a) you don't come from a billionaire family and b) don't live in an area as crime-ridden as Memphis

+1. PP is seriously demented.

This loser criminal should've never been let out of jail. Sounds like the same goes for his family member who was arrested for a wide variety of unrelated offenses at the same time.

Maybe issues with her birth family?

I’d say that’s a safe bet since she took the name of her low caste addict husband. Not even hyphenated. Very weird for someone so rich and from such an old money family.

Would you stop it already?

We don't know what happened, and calling him "low caste" is super weird.

Are you from Tennessee or the South? Old money doesn’t “mix” with men like that. This isn’t some low class millionaire because her dad owns a Ford dealership. She’s a bonafide billionaire WASP debutante educated at the region’s most elite private school. Plus private bachelor’s and master’s. Old money in Memphis even considers the FedEx founder to be nouveau riche. It is very strange she married a man like this and also took his name. And he’s publicly posting screeds about how rocky their marriage is? Bizarre.

Her maiden name was Wellford. So, she didn't have her grandpa's last name anyway.

(presumably the same) Cleotha Abston from an earlier mugshot

Why would a billionaire heiress be working as a teacher? Wonder why she didn't stay at home with her kids. That is beyond bizarre.

Woman from high net worth family here---

Everyone in my family works. A strong work ethic is encouraged.

We all have Dad's last name. He is from a middle American family. Mom always felt safer taking his name and having her kids have Dad's last name. Dad's last name is a common one...think Jones or Smith.

My sister is a big runner. She goes out running like every other woman runner in our town. My Mom was not crazy about her running in the area around Wharton (Univ of Pa) where my sister attended college. Mom grew up on Philly and thought Philly was very dangerous to be running in.

She could have volunteered.
