Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
The egos from both the ReOpen group and from the Stay Closed (PAGES) group are crazy. Look, the incumbents and the apple ballot will win. Not because of anything Moderatly MoCo or CleanSlate did or didn't do. Just because most voters are uninformed. But those running deserve some credit. They are putting themselves out there, unlike those of us here on DCUM |
If you did the research, I don't think you'd be a supporter of any of these incumbents. You give credit where credit is due, and flush the rest. You're clearly uninformed about recent events. Please educate yourself before making asinine comments. For example, none of the incumbents are on the apple ballot, which is why . |
| which is why voting apple ballot is okay this year. |
| I think the PP meant that coming out of the primary election, both the incumbents and the Apple Ballot candidates will advance to the general election. |
I don't think it works that way. |
So you’re uneducated. Not the pp, but if you spent two seconds doing research, rather than posting here, you might have some knowledge. |

Usually I am anti Apple ballot. But I definitely did not want the anti-maskers or the same old same old. Except for Loftus. I like him.
So the Apple Ballot was useful for a change. |

I have always use the Apple ballot as a voting guide. I always thought they had the best in mind for our kids. These last couple of years have made me wonder what their priorities are. This year I will also use the Apple voting ballot as a guide of who not to vote for.
However it leaves me in a lurch because I don’t know who to vote for. I checked out the moderately Montgomery guide and although I like a lot of his recommendations I am not comfortable with his recommendations for Board of Education namely Dawn IH. I suppose it will be a process of elimination by using the Apple and moderately guide as to who not to vote for which leaves me with hopefully good candidates. This year is tough for me. |
That is exactly how it works. |

I was deciding between Loftus and Yang at early voting today. Yang was there and initiated conversation. I wanted to like her from her write up, but I found her dubious and aggressive to the point of having her feet half over the line, calling to me as I entered and then talking relentlessly at me and my daughter. She started out by claiming her opponent only taught for 1 year. When I said his bio said he taught 4th and 5th grade, she said maybe two. I was really surprised she would just lead in with a slam she wasn't sure of. She also knew we had limited time but would not stop talking at us. It was like she needed to fire off all her points. A big turn off. We both voted Joftus in the end. Afterwards, my daughter said Yang gave her the impression that my vote was more important to Yang than hers and focused more on me. Confirmed my decision.

For nonpartisan primary elections, like the Board of Education, yes, the top two vote-getters in each race will be on the ballot in the November general election. So it is entirely possible, perhaps even probable, that all three incumbents and all three Apple Ballot candidates will each finish either first or second next week and will face off against each other in the fall. |
This could happen in D1 and D3 but as for the other races, in one race there is no incumbent and in one race there is no apple ballot candidate. In D5 there is an apple ballot candidate but no incumbent so one of the others will move the primary. For At Large there is an incumbent but no apple ballot candidate so one of the others will move to the primary. There won't be 4 races that are incumbent & apple ballot. It's also possible that in races with apple ballot & incumbent the vote will be split between them and one of the others will get through. It is a different dynamic this election and I don't think anyone really knows what will happen. |
I think your district numbers are incorrect. District 1 has no incumbent, since Docca is retiring, and MCEA endorsed Rivera Oven. District 5 does have an incumbent, Wolff, and MCEA endorsed Coll. District 3 has an incumbent, Joftus, and MCEA-endorsed Yang. At Large has only an incumbent, Silvestre, and no MCEA candidate. |
NP here - Thanks for explaining that. |
