Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
| How much does everyone like the new board? Are we going to see the same problems? |
| Yes , same problems. Same Sup, same central office staff, same budget. A few new faces won't change ge any of that and you need a majority to vote to make a change - nearly impossible |
| Wolffe is still there. I doubt anything will change and my bet is she'll run the board off the cliff. |

This!!! Outrageous. Thank goodness he lost, by a lot. |
[shrug] You really think Scott Joftus was a major cause of MCPS's problems? There are like a thousand more important things. And if you are bothered by the Kid Museum programs' very existence, well, they're still there. |
No but the unhinged crazies seem to think there's a conspiracy involving the issue where he recused himself. Not sure how that works but they're foaming at the mouth over this and bocce ball. |
Covid safety is all that matters, amirite? |
If you are stupid enough to not understand that Joftus is just one example of the entire MCPS culture then there is no hope for this county. There are a thousand more examples of exactly this. MCPS slipping friends no bid contracts, under the table deals, money diverted to personal uses (see the embezzlement in Transportation, remember??) and failure to repair schools and fund classroom needs. Did you miss the teachers are begging for school supplies on Facebook? Joftus is one example of what is the MCPS culture. |
I think you need to take a nice walk, or maybe a nap. |
They sound unhinged. The guy was upfront about his conflict and even recused himself from the vote on that. Not sure what else a person can do. The fact that this is what they've fixated on shows a real lack of judgment. I really don't care about that. Things that interest me are: 1) Update boundaries to reduce transportation costs 2) Stop focusing on gaps or trying to bring everyone to the LCD. Meet all students where they are. 3) Expand access to popular special programs where there are more qualified students than seats. |

How about increase pay for teachers and reduce demands from central office? And then hire more teachers! Then we won't keep losing more teachers (maybe)
How many current teaching positions are being filled by long-term substitutes? And how many of them are qualified (espnin special ed)? |
Joftus was never upfront about his conflict of interest. But hey, this is an anonymous forum and he can post that as many times as he wants. Not that it matters now, he's out. Joftus is focused on himself and his resume. Unhinged is thinking that Joftus is ever going to care about your 1,2 and 3. Does any of that impact his bottom line? No. Get over yourself. Update boundaries to reduce transportation costs? LOL That was posted as a joke, right? The director of MCPS has been taking home an extra $1-$2 million for years and you think that changing boundaries will reduce transportation costs? LOL Dream on. |
These are good suggestions but we also need more support service, especially early on with reading, speech, etc. and we also need to bring back basics like textbooks as some kids learn better from a traditional teaching style. We've had so many boundary studies. Just make the changes and be done with it. |
DP. In case you didn’t get the memo, he lost. Time to find a new random pet issue to focus on. I’m sure it’s hard letting go! |
