Both of these things happened with kid museum. Yet because these people are liberals (my theory) defending a failed system you adore (Public school) you are blinded, it seems, by their poor ethics. Need an IG for MCPS stat but you will say the IG is too expensive!

This has nothing to do with the discussion.

Nice try. The question on the table is whether this is money well spent and I am showing you the corruption in MCPS. It’s in a Bethesda for a reason! Cognitive dissonance much?

Where they locate themselves is not the issue. However given the space they need going to one of the most expensive areas/spaces seems absurd. MCPS should be getting free programing from them if they are giving them that much money. It makes zero sense when it is not helping MCPS students and at best, a select few. We all know the corruption and its everywhere, not just MCPS but sadly no one is able or willing to do anything about it.

You seem misinformed. By locating in an area that is well-traveled and convenient they will have far more visitors which is kind of the point.

It's an oddball location - if it's been hard to lease consistently, perhaps they got a good deal.

I live walking distance from it and it seems like an ideal location to me.

Convenient for who? School kids don’t travel by metro and parking in that area is a nightmare. Most people don’t live right by the metro. And, it’s not free or low cost so it excludes many families.

It was a food court years ago.

That doesn’t mean it’s the best use, but that might be the reasoning.

There are lots of ways to spend that money responsibly. This was not one.

And it failed as a food court. Streetsense couldn't make a go there. Maybe the Kid Museum will.

OK, well they actually did propose to spend the ESSER III funds in lots of ways. According to the grant application linked earlier, only $223,800 was specified for bocce. The overall total amount of the grant was $252.2 million:

• The requested funds will be used to provide for:
o Position salaries;
o Non-position salaries;
o Stipends;
o Associated employee benefits;
o Contractual services;
o Special education compensatory services;
o Instructional materials and technology support and resources.

• The requested grant funds will support a total of 271 additional positions. The positions to be
added include: 113 teachers; 32 paraeducators; 50 social workers; 40 counselors; and a range of
other positions.

Ah. So bocce was less than 0.001 of the proposal.

But please don't let facts get in the way of the false narrative of corruption and dereliction which these regular posters are pushing.

Now discuss how much of the COVID-19 funding from the federal government MCPS actually spent to address the pandemic.
List the funding that was spent on ventilation, evaluating classroom air quality, installing CO2 monitors, and fixing HVAC systems. You know, like is actually needed right now.

We'll wait.

How about other things like windows in windowless classrooms, fixing leaking roofs that are causing mold, etc. as well. Or, doing needed updates and repairs.

And, continue with things like additional cleanings.

Boccee has nothing to do with the proposal request.

You do realize that there are many schools with very unsafe conditions and that money would have been better spent on repairs. Or, more social workers and counselors if the mental health needs that MCPS said are so great.

Now, did they actually fill and create all those positions or did they waste it on bocce where we have no idea where the kits are.
