Sports General Discussion
I doubt PP is a woman or a mother. |
That was 5 years ago right? There is an explosion of this nonsense that is going to continue to push the envelope |
Most males are better athletes than women my scale. High school age boy swimmers have better times than most college female swimmers |
Nice that gullible you “believes” that but most of us don’t agree with you. |
But it’s all relative, isn’t it? The average man may not be a good athlete, but he’s sure as hell better than the average woman at most competitions involving speed and strength. That applies to athletes, too. There is a reason why men and women rarely compete against each other. That’s the whole point. |
Then you are an idiot. |

So - USA Today did the research a while back.
There are about 5,500,000 high school athletes playing a high school sport at some level (Freshman, JV and Varsity) every year (non-covid) in the U.S. The participation numbers are over 7,000,000 a year but there are double counts and some triple counts in those numbers. A kid who plays football and baseball gets counted twice. There are about 500,000 college athletes playing a sport every year. So, about 6,000,000 high school and college athletes playing school sports every year. And, how many trans athletes are there? MtF and FtM. About 30. Yep. |
And one of them is #1 in the NCAA right now in the 200 free ahead of Arlington native Tori Huske. So former Olympian Huske may not end up as the NCAA champion. |
Then how about we let those 30 or so trans athletes sit out competitive sports and enjoy recreational athletics instead? Why should women be the ones to miss out on competition? |
+1. Will Thomas, at minimum, is an attention seeking narcissist. Let's not forget that there is probably major money to be made on this down the line... book deals... speaking tour... |
It’s still not right for a female athlete at the top of her game to get shut out by someone who was a male athlete 2 years ago. And frankly, it tells you what kind of person Lia Thomas is that she feels perfectly fine barging into a female sport and totally dominating, despite the obvious physical advantages she has. |
Not sure how USA Today did their research, but the CDC and the Human Rights Campaign certainly came up with different numbers. In any case, the numbers are largely irrelevant. It’s either right for biological males to compete as females against biological females or it isn’t. A CDC study published in 2019 estimated that 1.8 percent of high school students are transgender, meaning there are roughly 270,000 transgender students in U.S. high schools. But a report by the Human Rights Campaign found that only 14% of transgender boys and 12% of transgender girls play sports. Given all of those numbers, it's statistically possible that there are some 35,000 transgender student-athletes in high school, which would mean 0.44% of high school athletes are transgender. Even as a fraction of the athlete population, that's still considerably more transgender young people playing sports than have made headlines. |
College is amateur sports. |

From an AP news story:
"Pretty much everyone individually has spoken to our coaches about not liking this. Our coach [Mike Schnur] just really likes winning. He's like most coaches. I think secretly everyone just knows it's the wrong thing to do," the female Penn swimmer said. "When the whole team is together, we have to be like, 'Oh my gosh, go Lia, that's great, you're amazing.' It's very fake," she added. Thomas' teammate said the future appears bleak for female athletes. "When I have kids, I kinda hope they’re all boys because if I have any girls that want to play sports in college, good luck. [Their opponents] are all going to be biological men saying that they’re women," she told OutKick. "Right now we have one, but what if we had three on the team? There’d be three less girls competing." |
Nope, I’m a swim parent who thinks swimmers are rarely record chasers, especially at this expense. |
