I really, truly believe this is not anyone's motivation.

Please.. in years of youth and college sports with multiple kids, had one trans kid involved in one sport. Nice kid but able to make much of a contribution towards athletic success inspire of all those supposed super male advantages described on here. There was a team, a bunch of kids with a variety of talents and contributions....they grew up and are all now off to the next thing. No issues at all.

Ok
So since your kid didn’t have any issues, that clearly means no one else’s kids will. Such a strong point you’ve made.

The point is...you act like just being male means you are some kind of dominant athletic force. That is bull crap. Most men are not good athletes at all.

And most women aren’t either. But we’re not talking about them. At the college level, they’ve all gotta be pretty good or they wouldn’t be on the team.

Agree. But I don't think this minuscule number if trans athletes, who may be athletic but that does not mean they are dominant, are going to fundamentally change woman's college sports which is the question here. I get that you have a different opinion. So be it....we disagree.

There will always be the attachment to the former male swimmer every time they swim. Much like the labels we put on everything. The first this the first that.

But will they deny access to the sport to some women? and does it have to be a majority/many/all to matter?

If we’re supposed to bend over backwards for the super small number of trans athletes, to make them feel comfortable and accepted, why should we just brush aside the small number of actual female athletes that this issue affects negatively? Are their feelings not important? Or not important enough?

+1. This feels a lot like “Oh, that thing you worked really, really hard for? A man feels like he should have it instead so take a seat.”

+2
This is unfair and defeats the purpose of women’s sports.

It's another way of marginalizing women and girls.

Conservatives are despicable pushing for these anti-women policies.

Ironically, we've come full circle and it's now conservative states protecting the ability of women and girls to participate

I.e., liberalism is eating itself.

Awful. As a former female athlete, I find this unacceptable. I want Lia to be respected and live her life how she wants, but as an XY she does not belong in women's sports. The erasure of womanhood is terrifying. Pregnant women as "people" or "persons with wombs" and erasing our accomplishments when a man steps in and does it better because of his genes. No safe spaces for bio women anymore.

Trans women need to have a reckoning with themselves NOW and see how they are perpetuating misogyny with this kind of thing.

I genuinely do not understand this point of view and am curious to learn more. Your opinion is that it is OK if some women athletes lose out because it is a relatively small number? What about if it was your daughter who trained for most of her life to get to the Olympics, but she did not make the team because Lia took the last spot? What about if you trained for years to have the national 100 yard dash record, and then it was broken by someone who remained male through most of adolescence? You are fine with that?

I have a slightly built athletic girl born a girl. I already worry about sturdier girls knocking her out and now I have to worry about a situation like this. For some sports, a trans women would be dangerous since they will be so much stronger and probably weigh more. In sports where you knock each other around, this is not good.

This is a complicated situation.

I don’t think it is either. But that doesn’t change the fact that it will negatively impact female athletes.
