I know it seems TOOOOO early for this, but can we get a gift list going?

And what about gift ideas generally for the young toddlers (2-3)?

For the baby, stuff you'd already buy? Maybe, new socks in next size, new pacifiers if yours uses those, new teethers, puffs, baby food pouches, etc.

For a 3 year old girl, schleich animals, character bandaids, hair clips, some kind of food treat (last year when my dd was almost 4 she got a small 6 cookie pack of oreos), new toothbrush.

Duplo, magnatiles, play food, doctor/vet kit, wooden train, large dump truck with something to put in and dump out like beanbags, dinosaur figures, dollhouse, play tent.

I am struggling for ideas for my 3 year old too. I feel like we have SO much already- play kitchen, magnatiles, balance bike, Nugget, play tent, dolls and doll stroller, vet kit, duplo, little people, memory games, sticker books, sooo many stuffed animals and books! To be honest, I don’t want much more in the house.

I decided to do the want/need/wear/read thing, one Santa gift and a small stocking:

Want- Melissa and Doug horse stable
Need- big kid bedding for when we transition beds
Wear- shoes the next size up or a cute dress
Read- seek and find book

Santa- scooter

Stocking- pompegrante, Scheilch figure, a small treat or two, bubble bath and character band aids

I am asking extended family for art supplies and craft kits, small duplo sets, mermaid Barbie, pattern blocks/tangrams and books.

Mine want them!

I was too old for these the first time around, but I remember hearing about them. Is it something a kid can manage if they can’t take it to school, or does it need constant attention? My 8yo nephew might like one, but I don’t want to get him in trouble!

My kids have 2 different kinds of Gigapets and they can live without constant attention. The Pixie is especially fun.

I’ve started early this year and we have LOL toys and so many legos.

I'm laughing a bit at this one because my 8yo asks for this every year and she never gets it. She'll get something else like the Barbie camper, a smaller house, corvette, but still she wants this dream house so bad. She's not getting it this year either. Not that I'm mean, I just don't have room for it and she doesn't play with the Barbie stuff she has. But get the toys while you can! Target had a sale I think recently, one toy 10% off.

Any recommendations links for all these?

We get all our softball stuff at Dicks or order online from Hibbett Sports.

For bikes we usually shop at area bike stores for midrange, like Trek. If you really get lucky you can find a refurbished one for cheaper than Walmart prices.

Skip the training wheels. In one afternoon a 6 year old can learn to ride a bike.

The crayola scribble scrubbies have been a big hit with our 3 and 5yo. They have a lot of reusable play value.

Got stocking stuffers. The rest…. Ugh still waiting for kids to make Santa lists! How do you all produce the Santa items if they are unavailable last minute?

Anonymous wrote:What are the go-to gifts this year? I have 7 and 11 year olds and they love activity type gifts (making things, crafts, remote-control stuff). Shopping early because of the shipping delays.

Craft books and supplies with a long card table folding chair in their very own designated spot(if you have room.).

Personally, I always give the perfect gift that is the perfect color and size--it's green and called cash. $20 for under 16, $50 for high school, and $100 for college. Gifts stop when they graduate from college. Thank heavens most are out of school now.

I have a 4 year old and we do our Santa list the weekend we get the tree out and put it in a mailbox ornament we have for the tree (Santa takes it and leave a candy cane overnight). Then it's set and can't be changed, but also the Santa list isn't a guarantee for all of it. Anyway, we are going to grandma's for Thanksgiving this year, so we are getting the tree out the weekend before (will decorate with ornaments after, but the artificial tree is going up then) so the Santa list will need to be 'mailed' the weekend before Thanksgiving.

We have the 2-person and my daughter still requested the 4-person. It's a family favorite
