I know it seems TOOOOO early for this, but can we get a gift list going?

My elementary age son wanted a famous player’s official soccer jersey that had to be ordered from Europe. So that’s been ordered and I’m waiting - but glad I’m not panicking about shipping since I have time.

(Beware, though, messy if you’re not careful.)

Love this idea - thanks!

Try placing your order for a Prime item and see how the two days stretches out...to a week...to two weeks...to "We will keep you informed"...to "Your item arrived yesterday!" (It did not). The entire shipping chain has been affected.

They can get a little frustrating. We were gifted two of these for my son (6 at the time) and the material, whatever it was, was way too hard for the plastic tools provided. The instructions say to mist the block o' goodies with water and that turned it into a muddy activity.

Anyway, the kits are fun but you'll probably need some other tools and some patience. We ended up using a hammer and screwdriver to knock the stuff apart and it got pretty noisy, which my son enjoyed more than the gems/fossils.

Well, you just sold my kid on these! He will be over the moon. Thank you for the suggestion!

Add in some safety goggles. And hope for a sunny day out on the driveway!

He loves to read and is into computers (how they operate, code, etc). He also swims.

How about a raspberry pi? It is a kid friendly into to coding computer.

NP - This is excellent. We are now considering this for our 10 yo.
Also he might like a subscription to Oyla: https://oyla.us/
He doesn't read it cover to cover quite yet, but quite a few articles are interesting to everyone in the family

I’ve been ordering gifts early but haven’t had any shipping delays on amazon at all so far.

They are in and gone. They came out Friday. Do not order from Amazon they are all fakes or tampered with.

I didn’t need the official jersey, but did want a specific (not popular in the US) team shirt for my 10 year old. I ordered it from the UK a few weeks ago and it was here in a week. Check that off my list!

PSA for games: Go to Unique or some sort of thrift store. You can really load up on games for like $2.99. We are a game family (kids 11, 9, and 6) and I've bought so many there recently.

My 11 year old DD loves to bake, so she's going to get a stand mixer this year. She also wants an alexa for her room and a hockey net for street hockey games.

My 9 year old DS wants an electric guitar, but he also needs a new bike (he's really outgrown his kid bike).

My 6 year old...wants pokemon. He's actually hard to buy for since he basically just gets hand-me-downs.

My kid juuuuust started getting into Pokemon and I want to get him some sets/ cards but have no idea what I am doing. Does any seasoned parent have any tips for what to buy to get started? Would any of the kits be OK? Looks like some issues with availability so I want to snag what I can get but not buy the wrong thing.

Would something like this be OK?

Also, at that age, it’s important to somewhat match physical size/ number of presents but they have no sense of how much things cost. So if you get her a bean bag chair for her room or even a big box with all her winter snow gear in it along with some smaller presents that she’ll be really excited about, it should be enough.

We already have a scooter and balance bike (all were originally gifts for DC1, so while she could get her own, that just feels like a ridiculous waste). A beanbag chair could be an interesting option, just not sure where it would fit in her room…

NP and I hear you- my youngest turns 3 in December plus has so much stuff from our older kid that I'm struggling to come up with ideas. In our case she has a balance bike that was originally DC1's but not a scooter so we are going to get her a scooter for her birthday but now I need Christmas ideas and ideas for the grandparents too. Sha already has a pottery barn chair courtesy of the grandparents from last year.

Kids are 8, 6 and baby. The older ones want more legos, specifically the mario legos and expansion sets. Those are already ordered and in hiding. I also already ordered the books they want and some puzzles. I will order a couple of nugget couches shortly. Gem dig kits as well.

The baby is getting some baby toys and board books. She'll still be tiny. She won't care.

I will get some more little impulse items closer to the holiday but legos were the #1 priority and the shelves have been bare all year on those (though they've been available online).
