What on earth does your response in bold above have to with Democracy? Democracy just means we the average person can have a say in the laws of our country. It does not necessarily follow that there are laws involving "handouts."

There were many factors that contributed to our divorce, this was one. It was awful, I'd come home she'd immediately bombard me with whatever arcane bizarre claims about Russiagate Rachel Maddow was making and how this was definitely going to put Trump in jail, and even if I just remained politely quiet she'd get angry at me for not joining in.
