UVA OOS (around $70k/year, all-in) vs UF (honors, FWIW) in-state.
UF would obviously be far less expensive - instate tuition <$10k. UVA is well-respected, especially in the mid-atlantic. While UF is a pretty highly ranked public, I'm just not sure. Looking for opinions... |
What major? |
Go to Florida. It’s an up and coming public that will overtake UVA soon. |
The country is much larger than the mid-Atlantic. Save your money and go to Florida. |
Opinion? Stay in FL |
UF alum here. UVA, no question. UF is a diploma mill. Every UF grad I have worked with in over 20 years lacked basic skills. I would never send my kids there. |
70k vs 10k for a similarly ranked school?!? UF hands down. |
Won’t happen in the next 10 years. UVA is the more impressive degree and excellent recruitment. If money is no factor, UVA. |
UVA is about to fall out of the top 5 publics. Guess which school is #6? |
That price difference is huge. My opinion is UF. |
What’s the financial situation? I went to UF and I think UVA is the better school, but only if you can very comfortably afford the tuition. |
We live in DC. The in-state thing is possible if you have a grandparent in FL (yes, really). So we'd get DCTag money as well. It would make UF cost about as much as a European vacation. Major is CS |
Ha. That was a choice my hs boyfriend made. We grew up in florida and he decided to go to uva. |
I would agree if money isn’t a factor. What does your kid want to do after graduation? Major? Interests? UVA is the no 1 public producer of Rhodes Scholars at 56 and was just named top producer of Fulbrights by the state department. U of F has 13 Rhodes |
We can afford UVA but it's a large difference. |
