What’s the point?

As I suspected. Too dumb to even realize how far behind America has fallen.

This is directed at all races, if the US isn’t good enough for you, why are you even here? You could move somewhere else, somewhere better esp if you you have so many great qualities to offer.

And interestingly, the US has only ‘fallen’ since we began accepting people from every village in the world, that’s precisely when we began to lag behind the rest.

Since the beginning of the nation?

DP. I don't think there is a causation there, but it's true that immigration has skyrocketed over the past few decades.

Yea sure becaue the World has been getting smaller, more open, and more integrated.
The World has been evolving. Many of the advanced countries are experiencing low birth rate problem and population reduction, hence relying on immigration.

What is the cause of the decline in quality US education? I am so curious. It correlates with increased immigration during the later 20th century, no?

And there will be white kids from West Virginia with lower scores who will get in. There will be black kids from the Bronx with lower scores who will get in. There will be Indian kids whose caste is “untouchable” with lower scores who will get in.

This case was never about Asian Americans. It was always about the equal protection clause that's in the constitution.

By PPs logic, whites and blacks with "perfect" stats go to the back of the line in favor of SE Asians whose parents arrived here in refugee boats. And those asians with "perfect" scores who are denied spots at top schools? They will have plenty of other options. They will be fine.

The case was never about equal protection.

If it were they would have gotten rid of legacy admits.
I certainly hope they tackle that next.

Who exactly is "they?"

It takes money and decades to make that happen. Are you taking up a collection?

“They” are white conservatives who have abused the system to obtain outsized power to force their unpopular beliefs on everyone else. They don’t want obstacles like AA to affect their white, male kids. They DGAF about minorities or women. And they will absolutely not touch legacy.

Fools.

There are black legacies. Blacks are free to donate. They are athletic. These are God's gifts. Are they not their own agencies with the abilities to direct their own lives? Justices Roberts and Thomas have spoken. Their words are the laws of the land.

Transparently racist!

Lol, you are missing the obvious point. Legacies don't make reference to race. Anyone can be a legacy. Anyone can donate. Harvard takes $$$ from blacks as well as they do from whites and Asians. That's why it's not unconstitutional.

That throws out any argument that admissions should be fair and based on merit.

Now that affirmative action is ruled unconstitutional, you want justice and fairness.

It's your way - or it has to be fair. Got it.

It’s caused by the affirmative action, watering down the quality of everything so that the more “preferred race” can be selected.

It's caused by states no longer investing in universities. When boomers went to college, state schools were heavily subsidized which is why they could be a part time waiter and pay their way through a state flagship. That funding gets cut during every downturn and never gets restored in good times.

Not really. Decline of education quality happened at all levels, not just the college level.

If you believe they should be at American institutions in high numbers, maybe it’s time for Asian countries to create world class elite institutions. Asians didn’t found the institutions here, why should anyone admit more Asians just because there are more Asians than any other race? Are you joking?

I don't understand the obsession with 'elite' schools; btw, they are not elite, they are just exclusive, you can go play with Tiger at some exclusive golf club, or get tennis lessons from some McEnroe bro, but you can have just as much fun and learn at any other decent club

the problem is that they cannot have quotas, so they cannot limit overtly the number of members from specific background ... but they did i, do it and will forever be doing it covertly

btw, that guy behind it and all over the news, he got what he was so desperate to get, celebrity status, 5 min of fame, but that is all he'll ever get out of it, he is fooling himself it will change anything in admissions, and when talking about their stellar EC maybe he could be as vocal about the rampant nepotism in their ranks, with parents that arrange internships for their children through friends and families, that abuse the system and send their children to relatives to attend schools in better neighborhoods

Dumbing down is the biggest cause.

Try again. The largest shift in demographics due to AA was the significant increase in enrollment for women. URMs are still...underrepresented.

I was offering some perspectives in this thread, as people tend to do on message boards, and one of the other posters, a conservative, called me a "piece of shit."

Stay classy, Republicans!

"underrepresented"? that's a liberal/fascist word, not a human language

No, it's a numbers thing. URMs are not watering down the quality of anything because they aren't there.
