The White Lotus season 2

Greg is funny -- it's like a old-time version of his moped ride with Tanya!

There's a big fight and Daphne kills Lucia (hitting her on the head with a statue or something like that). Cameron tells Daphne to get out of there and lie on the beach and he'll take care of the body. Daphne brushes against a dead body in the water and freaks out, but the dead body is not actually Lucia but someone else (Portia or Tanya maybe? Though I know everyone thinks Tanya will be back next season).

Good theory

Good theory except for the Tanya part. I think she's too much of an expected character in the series now, and also well liked. People tune in to WL because of her character so I don't think they'd just kill her off like that. The rest of the theory I can get behind.

It's a good theory. Definitely think one body is Lucia. I could also see Dom killing Lucia after she threatens to out him to Albie and/or his wife. Dom really wants his marriage back and he seems capable of a lot

I think the other body will have something to do with Tanya, but not be Tanya. I think there's a good chance it's Tanya's husband

Maybe it hints that he is the ranch hand?

I wonder if the cherubs in Daphne's fresco are a hint that the kids will be important (maybe the trainer-as-father theory is correct and she drops it on Cameron to break him after finding out that he slept with Lucia).

That would also explain the d*ckless-ness of Cameron's fresco - what is more emasculating than finding out you got cuckolded?

Also he keeps injuring himself -- falling the first day, having a bandage on his head from hitting the nightstand another night. Maybe he will be hitting on someone and they'll kill him and it will be considered an unfortunate accident or something the hotel can be sued for, like the grout.

Nonnitos do not succumb this easily.

First Harper, a golden bird attacking another. Is money attacking her or is she attacking another bird (Daphne?)

Daphne, the mother. But also the shows creator says they are cherubs, known for being mischievous and playing games

Cameron, without his masculine parts, being humiliated by a dog. Showing that despite his bravado he is one of the least powerful characters on the show

Tanya, keeping a monkey shackled for entertainment and high in a window (linked to the woman on the island who falls to her death in the story Tom Holland tells)

Greg - a man and a woman on a pack mule with the pack mule staring at the camera

I'm having trouble finding the rest and I can't screenshot and post them so:

Nonno - An old man courting a young beautiful woman

Albie - A young man playing an instrument for a beautiful woman lying on the ground at his feet. A dog, not dissimilar to the dog in the Cameron fresco is gently jumping up on her

Mia - The Asian Sphinx, who will kill travelers who can't decipher her riddle, looking down from above. Strong and s*xual

Quentin - Four men, two looking longingly at one looking at the camera and another looking longingly at one of those men. The man looking at the camera is seated almost on a throne. A woman is facing away from them, walking in another direction

Valentina - Close up of that woman walking in another direction who is now looking at two women entangled in a bed

Dom - A man fallen to his knees in supplication before a beautiful woman who is holding a necklace out over a cliff

Portia - A girl with her head twisted almost unnaturally towards the sky, on the ground, seemingly doing some chore while a goat stares at her

Ethan - A beautiful woman holding up a hand to either take something or to push someone back and a man in front of her holding a bowl overflowing with goods. His head is downward and unreadable, staring at his goods and seemingly oblivious to the woman

Lucia - A leopard or some big cat holding its fish walking languidly

Essex Boy - One man sitting leaning against a column while another stands above him, seemingly bringing his pelvis towards the sitting man's face. Great intimacy implied between them

The Aubrey plaza fresco is a bird attacking/clipping the wings of another bird. Keeping Ethan in check?

Maybe The Godfather references refer to Nonno, who’ll be the one to kill Lucia thinking he’s protecting his family, when Dom and Albie seem the more obvious choices to snap.

Or has Ethan clipped her wings?

Their point, which I agree with, is that it's clear from that conversation that Ethan's resentment towards and dislike of Cameron goes all the way back to college and that Ethan is nowhere near over it. One of the guys on the podcasts talked specifically about that kind of anger where maybe you don't think about for a long time, but then when you do think about it, it's so strong that it almost makes you vibrate. Their point on the podcast was that this scene illustrates that Ethan might have it in him to straight up murder Cameron.

While not a murderer ( ) this comment struck me because I immediately recognized that type of anger. I have a person from my past who I haven't seen in a long time and would definitely not choose to go on vacation with, but if I did find myself, for some reason, sitting down to dinner with them and our spouses, and they were acting like the same a$$hole they've always been, that is exactly the kind of rage I'd feel -- just vibrating, almost hard to control rage. I'm sure I'd handle it by either crying or screaming at them, not murdering them, but I absolutely recognize that feeling. There are some harms that cut very, very deep and stick with you. A healthy person gets far away from the person who caused the harm but Ethan, intriguingly, has decided to spend a lengthy vacation in a hotel with adjoining rooms, in a small town on an island with that person. That's... a choice.

This is the best take on Ethan that I've read.

I think many of us have had a frenemy like that at some point in our lives. Cameron is the true frenemy. He acts like Ethan is a great friend, but he only wants that if he is clearly superior to Ethan. He can't handle Ethan being 'better' then him in any way. It bothered him Ethan was smarter, achieved his success completely on his own (came from nothing). Ethan isn't a player and Cameron loves to think he's superior because he cheats/gets laid.

Ethan has had enough. He no longer is threatened by Cameron and he sees him for what he is. He's gained self-worth with his success and won't be pushed around anymore.

But he still needs his approval or he wouldn't have accepted the invitation to go on vacation.

I do not think Albie has the rage to snap. I think Dom definitely does, and Nonno I think could be surprisingly dangerous in the right situation.

Interesting. It could tie into the girls’ having access to his room, which has come up twice now. And it seems like an unnecessary detail to include if it will NOT mean anything in the long run. But then again, I feel the same way about his injuries — strange thing to include unless it ends up becoming significant to the story.

Speaking of the Godfather, have any characters been spotted eating oranges? Or any oranges spotted as ingredients in any of the meals? I could see that being a fun Easter egg to spot because the orange thing is pretty famous Godfather reference (characters eating/buying/being bear oranges right before they die).

I think there is very likely to be a r*pe in the coming episodes. The opening credits feature a r*pe scene (Zeus as a swan violating Leda) and Nonno tells the story of Hades and Persephone. I could see one of the girls being in his room and him assaulting them, or his head injury/general kind of off kilterness perhaps leading him to violate one of the girls but not entirely of his own mind. But I'm not sure he's physically strong enough for that? I also think that Laura Dern IS going to show up and the fact that these women are on the rooms of the men will come up as she and her daughter will be two additional people and be unable to be added to the rooms per resort policy.
