It’s my 1st week. Constipated already. And fatigued.
Curious if there’s an old thread here on any mounjaro or tirz experience here; life lessons. Anyone on it now? How long before you felt the weight loss? I’m all ears. Cholesterol through the roof and have gained 40 pounds in 5 years that I desp need to lose. Fingers are crossed. |
I was on it for 6 months (Dec-May) and lost 20 lbs. I had to count calories to lose, but it was easy to stay within my target (1200 calories). I had few side effects except pretty bad reflux if I ate at night. I gained 3 pounds back, but my appetite is just not like it was before. I lost 10 pounds on my own before starting Mounjaro, and have another 20 to go. I'm glad I took it (I had the $25 a month savings card that is now expired), and I really hope more people get access to it. |
Did you increase your dose every month that you were on it? And if so, did you find the higher doses more effective? Thanks! |
Tomorrow marks my 1 year anniversary of being on Mounjaro for weight loss. I started at a BMI of 51 and I’m now at 39, I’m down 66 lbs.
I haven’t had any major side effects but I did have a lot of fatigue my first 2 months when I was on 2.5 and 5mg. I went up each month from 2.5 to 5 to 7.5 to 10. Then I did several months at 10 and 12.5 and just recently started on 15mg. I have bouts of indigestion and acid reflux if I have something too heavy (Chinese friend rice and orange chicken) or too fried (Chik Fil a). I mostly stick to protein rich meals with simple carbs and veggies. I do exercise 2-3x a week but should do more. Drink lots of water, make sure to eat enough protein and get your sleep. Best of luck to you! |
I just started it last month – 2.5. Waiting for the 5 to be filled. I had really good luck with ozempic, but insurance cut me off because I’m not a T2D, but oddly covered Mounjaro. We shall see for how long.
So far, no side effects, but also no loss. Ozempic’s side effects were more dramatic for me, but the silencing of food noise – even at starter doses – was more significant. Good luck! |
I started on 5 and lost most of my weight on it. I went up to 7.5 for the last month only, but it was pretty powerful. I wasn't seeking the desire to never eat, just wanted help staying on my 1200 daily calories. 5 was enough for that. Regarding constipation, I took 2 probiotics gummies every day and that was all I needed. No fatigue to speak of. Good luck! |
I am midway through my third month. I started at 2.5 and am taking 7.5 this month. The way I eat isn't that much different from how I ate before, except that I eat less, feel satisfied, and can easily resist the urge to have unnecessary snacks or sweets (or choose less healthy food). I have lost 25 pounds and feel amazing.
Drinking water is key to avoiding constipation. I've found that it is important to eat at regular intervals in small amounts. As a PP mentioned, I had a day when I didn't eat due to a work crisis. I had a healthy dinner late at night but probably ate more than I needed. I was up all night with heartburn and reflux - not fun. I also recommend focusing on lean proteins, veggies, and fruits. Most of my diet consists of what are zero-point foods on WW. As far as fatigue, that has not been a problem for me. If anything, I have more energy and focus because the medication seems to magically free my mind from its normal state of excess focus on food and hunger. I am also an emotional eater. On this medication, not only am I not hungry, but whatever brain cues I had previously that made my commitment to eating healthy foods in small qualities feel unachievable are gone. In a short time, this medication has improved my life in countless ways. Good luck! |
Going on 10 months, been at 7.5 for 4 months. Lost ~70 pounds dropping from BMI 41 to 31. Insurance has been a whole thing, I've paid out of pocket at the start and looks like will be again in the future.
Never had fatigue, if anything taking it solved, either through changes in my diet or through some other mechanism, bouts of flu like fatigue I had been having for several years. I ran into double trouble a few times in social situations where I was consuming beer and nibbling appetizers and felt super bloated and uncomfortable in the night. For a long time I had incredible hangovers with even a buzz - my sleep would be ruined and I'd be lethargic all day. This has eased off. |
On month 5, have lost 30 lbs., currently on 10 but will probably return to 7.5 next month. I have constipation if I am not active, also get a bit fatigued. I definitely get nauseous if I eat high fat food.
I really do think of it as a miracle drug. I am satisfied with a very reasonable amount of food, my cravings ( food noise) are just gone. I’m 50 and went from 183-153 lbs. My bmi is in the healthy range and I am feeling amazing when I weight train and move my body. On average I have lost a pound a week, on 10 mg I have lost 2 per week but I don’t feel like eating much so that is why I will probably return to 7.5. I had hbp and high cholesterol so I am assuming both of those have improved since the weight loss. Drink lots of water and eat slowly but make sure you eat high protein foods and fiber. Also weight training is so important. Good luck |
You are assuming your blood pressure went down? Please buy a home blood pressure cuff and monitor. Doctor needs that info |
I just posted on another thread, but I've been on Mounjaro for 6 months and have lost about 10 lbs (and figure some of that was just water weight). I moved up in dosage each month except I haven't gone to 15, am still on 12.5. I lost 3 lbs on a weeklong vacation when I couldn't fill my prescription beforehand so it seems the minimal weight loss I've had wasn't even due to the medication. Drinking water, eating protein (SO much protein), etc. but still in the obese BMI category (34). I'm so jealous of all of those who are finding it helps them!

I went from 236 to approx 175 on it in around 6-8 minutes baths then had to switch to Wegovy due to ins. I’m now down to 167. I’m 5’8” so I’m doing great. No regrets. I had to work to stay regular but I packed the pounds on with three back to back pregnancies and couldn’t lose it on my own. I’ll stay on it forever, no question. |
Op here:
Day 10. Fatigue gone. Constipation is better. Huge bursts of energy and generally sense of well being/optimism/happiness. Weird and unexpected. I’ll take it. No cravings at all! Down 6 pounds. I’m sure a lot of water. So weird not thinking about food. At all….ever. |
