Crackdown needed on flower vendors at intersections

Anonymous
This area needs to confiscate all of the flowers and money of these annoying street vendors. Yesterday, I was on a major road and some moron decides to flag over one of these flower vendors immediately as the light turns green. Of course they gave zero craps and caused a massive pileup of cars behind them at a major intersection on a very busy road. I was losing my mind stuck behind the idiot buying flowers.

But the point is, all of these street vendors trying to sell flowers at intersections are running illegal businesses. They sure as crap aren’t paying taxes and they don’t have licenses to do that kind of selling. They’re a danger to everyone on the road by causing people to have to swerve out of the lanes for travel when some moron clogs up an entire road because they’re stopped trying to buy flowers. Even when the light is red, these vendors dart between cars, so when the light turns green you might not be able to see them coming from a direction I’d there’s a large vehicle next to you and you run the risk of hitting them. Really sick and tired of the region turning into a 3rd world where anything goes and people feel like they can do whatever they want and dodge paying taxes on their cash transactions. Do we not have rule of law and order anymore in this country? You can’t start illegal businesses and sell things wherever you feel like it in this country. Govts need to get their act together and crackdown on these significant quality of life crimes.

Oh no, you were delayed for a few seconds by someone who bought flowers at an intersection! Were you late for your heart surgery?

Excuses. What are you gonna say when they cause an accident or get run over?

Why do you make excuses for unlicensed businesses dodging taxes? You are part of the problem for why this region is turning into the 3rd world. Why should a legitimate business obey by all of the laws and regulations for where they can sell and pay taxes while these illegal vendors dodge paying their fair shares of taxes to the state and govt?

I'm going to say that you, as a driver, have a legal obligation to exercise due care not to hit people, and as part of that legal obligation, you, as a driver, should not be driving that fast through intersections.

Lmao, so when is it legal for a de facto pedestrian or street vendor to be in the middle of the road during a green light?

You as a driver have a legal obligation to exercise due care not to hit people even when you have a green light. Decent human beings do their best not to hit other people, irrespective of what the other people are doing.

If I'm the first car, and the light turns green, do you agree that I can move forward even if someone refused to move away from my window?

Decent human beings with common sense who obey our laws pay taxes and don’t stand in the middle of busy roads while there are green lights.

No, of course you shouldn't do that. Good grief. You don't get to run people over just because the light turned green.

You're not in charge of what they do. You are in charge of what you do. That's a basic lesson from preschool.

I never buy or donate to any vendor or panhandler at intersections. They can be very easily injured or killed, and it's not good to encourage them to stay there. They can seek social services. But roadways are extremely dangerous for pedestrians, and I do not want to enable that.

On the other hand, why be punitive? They're already leading a difficult life. No one WANTS to sell flowers or beg at an intersection.

Would you prefer they beg for money instead?
They’re selling something so they can support themselves.they’re not begging for money for doing nothing.
You don’t have to buy from them but you seem irrationally annoyed.

same. they are usually a group led by an intersection "pimp" who schedules them and takes a cut. put that effort into a job.

Nobody should be approaching vehicles at intersections. It’s hazardous to them and others, and conditions drivers to not pay attention to what well could be the beginning of a carjacking. Nobody favors individual rights more than me, but this tyranny of the individual over social and behavioral expectations that exist for the common good has worn out it’s welcome.

I always wonder what else those vendors are distributing.
