Missing teacher in Greenbelt Maryland

An almost 60 year old woman, a public school teacher at the French Immersion school, left her home Saturday for a walk. She left her purse and medication behind. Hasn't returned home since.

They say "So far police do not suspect foul play" but I don't understand why not. Her friends and family say this is completely out of character for her, and again, she left her belongings at home. It's been four days.

Maybe the police know something the friends and family don't? But yeah, I wouldn't leave my purse and medication behind if I were leaving for several days.

Maybe the police mean they think she got lost or injured and couldn't make her way home versus something bad happening to her caused by another person.

I pray she comes home safe

It could just be a bad quote of the way the police said that they just don't have any evidence of wrongdoing, like a report of someone being attacked in the area, or information about a stalker who had been harassing her or something?

My children attend Dora Kennedy French immersion where she teaches and our school community is heartbroken over this. Our PTA and teachers are canvassing. Please help us to spread the word across the DMV

Typical. She's over 60 so there's not a gazillion posts on it as there would be if she was 40 and blonde.

Always helpful to embed the image, and give her a name:

Mariame Toure Sylla (age 60) was last seen in the 6500 block of Lake Park Drive on July 29, 2023:

It's likely an accident, but 4 days is a long time to go without water, so they really should be looking for her in the bushes and stuff.

She was just walking in her neighborhood park and was last seen at 8pm. Said she'd be home for evening prayers. I don't think this is an accident.

Praying for good news soon!

We have some family friends whose older child is enrolled in the French Immersion program and has her for a teacher. The school community is very upset right now as she is an adored teacher.

Not that this matters, but i had no idea she was 60! I somehow skipped her age when I read this story and assumed she was in her 30s from the picture.

I really hope she is found. These stories are so scary. How someone can just disappear seemingly into thin air.
