So to sum up, the people here advocating to move other families’ kids also believe that schools don’t affect property values.

My kid went to South County and I happened to be in the area today and wanted to see what all the gossip had been about. Last last two High Schools FCPS has built had tons of outdoor space and I guess I assumed they would want the same. Both schools (Westfield & South County) have a two stadium type setup with multiple grass fields and baseball and softball on site. I guess I was expecting something similar, but I'm sorry to offend you for bringing it up. The footprint of the property seemed so small and caught me off guard I guess.

From Westfield to Skyview is a downgrade in outdoor sports.

It seems like the loudest, most-well connected voices are getting their way with the current ridiculous process. If FCPS wants us all to "get a vote" on the boundaries, set up a vote. You keep saying that FCPS shouldn’t listen to families, and we keep telling you how absolutely absurd that is. Sounds like you just don’t want to put in the effort that others do to advocate for your own kids.

Feedback is one thing. But, it should be based on facts and not emotion.
RIO's facts are "I want." Everyone wants stability and a good school. Not just RIO. Everyone wants good property values. There is no reason to think property values will drop.

I've not seen one concrete reason why Crossfield should not go to Skyview. Not one. Oakton is at capacity and there are currently well over 50 new construction homes in the boundary--and many more to come. It is puzzling why the data was not included in the presentation last month.

The new schools will have sports. VHSL sports.
The new school will have challenging AP classes and electives.
The new school will save money on transportation.
The new school will save time on commute--better quality of life.
The new school will be a community school. Crossfield families shop in the Skyview area. The children play sports in the Skyview area.

Oakton parents works hard and paid for high price for their property.

You are saying it is fair to move other people's kids without concrete reason? What benefit bring you by moving other people' kids?

Oakton parents do not shop in Skyview area.

Ask Chantilly parents, ask Mclean Parents, ask Great Falls parents, ask Centreville parents, they will tell you the same reason why they need to stay.

The only people who want to go to Kyview is because the see their house value will increase a lot by rezoned to Skyview.

I would say it is fair for you to give up your home so other people can live in your home and you should work hard to support them!

I’ve got news for you. Pretty much all parents are working hard and doing the best they can to buy a house in the best neighborhood they can afford. Oakton parents are not unique whatsoever. Except maybe stupider if they think paying all that money for a house is going to result in a better outcome for their kid.

Go visit the college forum and you’ll see that it’s a wash. Oakton is an incredibly competitive high school. It is harder for kids to stand out or make sports teams. As an example, it is easier to get into UVA from South Lakes compared to Oakton. I’m not sure all of the hustle is worth it.

I just think it's funny that so many people think that the value of their house is based on the high school it's zoned to. There are $2 Million houses zoned to crappy high schools, it's location based. This area is close to Reston where there are a lot of jobs and an easy commute to Tysons, where there are also a lot of jobs. Home values are going to keep going up, not because of the high school they are zoned to, but because this is a high demand area due to high paying jobs within an easy commute.

General location does keep prices high around here overall.
However, the schools are part of it. There is a small premium on similar houses in desirable school pyramids, all else (like commute, house age & size etc) being equal.

Westfield and South County both have a huge amount of space due to their out of the way locations.

They have more land than Chantilly or Centreville to work with, since Carson is there. too. I imagine it will be a joint campus like at South Lakes.

Skyview will share space and fields with Carson, like South Lakes and Hughes. There will be plenty of space.

Why you come here to dictate where should we be rezoned to?

You are welcome to stay where you bought your house. FCPS has NEVER guaranteed boundaries though.

From the current boundary locator: "FCPS provides no guarantee that any residential address will continually be served by the same elementary, middle, and/or high school(s) or AAP center(s)."

More people are moving out of Fairfax than are moving in, and the numbers are big. That number will keep growthing if fcps school sink.

Tell me, where are all these empty homes in Fairfax since you claim more people are moving out than in?

All kids currently attending high school will not be rezoned, so no kids will be "moved".

they were elected to do a job. They act like their only job is getting elected again instead of actually trying to work for FCPS. You can't make everyone happy with rezoning.
