Charlie Kirk shot at Utah Valley University

I have serious doubts as to whether, after all of its politically-motivated firings, the FBI has the capacity and expertise to actually investigate Kirk’s murder. The lawsuit filed today against Patel and the Bureau describes a complete clown show that leaves all of us less safe.

Kash Patel is an idiot even if the find the shooter there will never be a conviction because Patel and his staff are clowns

Killing this man is inexcusable but it is insane to have more public mourning over a political provocateur than a room full of little tiny children. It would be insane to grieve more over even the most laudable adult than a bunch of elementary kids!

I genuinely saw someone repost a tweet about "This needs to be a wakeup call." As if the dozens of dead schoolchildren shouldn't have been?!

This I think is a source of a lot of the rage that is coming out and being expressed as indifference about this guys death.

Maybe it will be, I think Republicans will only care about gun violence when it is a pervasive threat to Republicans.

It’s all part of the martyrization.

No. The person tweeting it was a Republican, but I doubt it will actually be a wakeup call. Steve Scalise almost got killed playing baseball.

I think he will be forgotten more than martyred. At least by regular people. The same way all the schoolchildren are.

Again, can anyone please provide any evidence that Kirk was considered a potential presidential candidate before these tragic events? Because I am both very online and extremely politically aware and I never saw this.

Same. I’ve never once heard his name floated. Also, LOL that the guy is mad at the organizers…that was Charlie. He organized it.
I'd never even heard of Charlie Kirk before today.

Same.

Yeah, I know the person who killed him is a lunatic but like...do you not realize killing people you disagree with doesn't make their rhetoric go away? He's a martyr now.

I’m glad we have such a large repository of Charlie Kirk quotes to draw from right now. Very helpful!

I think the fact that there is a gory video, it led to his death, and this was a public figure who is possibly more well known than Steve Scalise may make a bit of difference, but ultimately Republicans probably don't care.

He’s not a martyr. He’s a victim of gun violence. What would he possibly be a martyr for?
