Letter from VHSL

Knew them rednex down there were going to uphold.
It’s going to be Oscar Smith now.

Idk. Battlefield is strong and could be the last team standing. I actually think Battlefield had a better chance of winning it all than Hayfield.

As a fan, I was looking forward to seeing Hayfield, Battlefield, and Madison clash with the best Richmond, and Tidewater teams. It’s a shame that the haters had to get involved.

A lot of non Hayfield people were looking forward to those matchups. I do believe it all would've remained under the radar if the team moms hadn’t stated fighting. If the one team mom had given up her position quietly and accepted the new team culture, we would be none the wiser.

But now her kid gets playing time in the postseason for SoCo. So I guess she’s having the last laugh as they say.

Nah cuz he on team but don’t play, lol
But question is if this team mom left Hayfield and the son now attends SOCO n this WHOLE thing is about football, what’s happening with that, because it’s obvious she moved her kid for. Same reason there coming after Overton for, or is this being overshadowed

Everyone wants to keep blaming this one mom. There were MULTIPLE people who came forward. Even had a letter from FCPS coaches about this mess. It’s about time he faces some consequences. He should be fired and so should everyone who allowed this crap to happen. That superintendent is a joke and made the county the laughing stock of Va. For everyone say buy the kids…those 20 something knew what they were doing and knew it was wrong.

My opinion, VHSL has been trying to build a case against Overton for years. They finally had enough evidence with his move to Hayfield to issue a ban.

Yes. Reid said they are appealing. FCPS believes they are in the right, and that the VHSL got it wrong.

Where did Reid say they are appealing? Is there a link to that somewhere?

From the Fairfax Times article:

“It’s understood that Fairfax County Public Schools plans to now appeal the ban to the 37-member executive committee of the VHSL, based in Richmond. Playoffs are scheduled to begin the weekend of Nov. 15. The first-round regional pairings are scheduled to be released this Sunday.”

I see. I was trying to see where/if Reid is actually addressing this publicly. Not sure why Reid/FCPS has taken it upon themselves to only serve the Hayfield administration and not the other 20+ schools under her purview. I get they are just covering their ass at this point, but she should have a lot to answer to when this is ends next week with a 2-yr Hayfield Probation.

That poster has a point. That kid went transferred to south county for the sole reason of playing football. They need some type of discipline as well.

They should. It’s a lot of speculation and some bs. Let the boys play!

They lost the appeal. They do not get a second one. Read the article that was a quote from when they were first notified of the ban. The investigation is complete. This is no longer speculation and BS. What's BS is the crap Overton and everyone who followed him pulled. Those boys can play at the schools they should have been going to the whole damn time.

I think we should all start submitting FOIA requests to FCPS asking for all the information on their investigation of Hayfield and start holding them accountable.

Would like School Board to comment on amount of funds spent on this, coaches posts, chaplain’s posts and why still appealing. Only way I see Reid saving face is to sell out Overton and Principal and say she wasn’t provided all information, but since she is not doing that, not surprised if Principal and Overton both put on year paid leave and then promoted to Gatehouse.

That kid got special consideration to transfer because he was being bullied by Overton, the other coaches and freedom transfers.

Yeah and I hear the punishment these days is a two year ban from post season. S County shouldn’t be in this year’s postseason or next.

Different situation. He applied to move and was approved result of bullying (that Asst Coach’s post continue to give more evidence for). This is very different from recruiting players, they transfer and then people try to make up a story after they get caught.

Reid is a disaster at every level. Plenty of other schools in FCPS are pleased that VHSL isn’t tolerating the crap that she rubber-stamped.

They don't want to hear that. Doesn't fit the narrative.

Wish they were done. VHSL made decision (letter from Billy Exec Dir). Hayfield did a first appeal to Sportsmanship Committee. They lost (today’s news story). Hayfield is now reported to be continuing to fight by appealing to the entire VHSL Board.

Think about the local kids who were on Hayfields team last year and had to change schools this year because they weren't needed anymore. No right.
