Those people with student loan debt ARE TAX PAYERS!

Well the will have to show the cancelled debt as income. If you are wondering why we needed the extra IRS agents and guns for the IRS.

No, not even that. There's a provision that exempts this income from taxation. A $10,000 tax free bonus.

Can someone please distill what he did for the interest? Is it true the interest stops/freezes as long as you make payments each month? At 0% or is it 1%?

Congress sets the interest rate, POTUS has no authority over that.

Get Republicans to play ball, if you want to lower the interest rate.

LOL. Please, tell more more about the Trump tax cuts!

If the GOP comes into power, they will give the rich more tax breaks and they will think it's fair.

First off.... it is not "forgiveness." It is debt redistribution.

And, nobody from the WH will say how it is funded.
We know that tax payers are picking up the check for this horrendous policy.

At this point I don’t care whether it’s a good policy. The seething is too entertaining. And I paid off my loans years ago.

Seems like this isn’t the anti-democrat juggernaut that the GOP thought it would be.

DP. Meh. I also paid off my loans. But I took them out back when a year at my Ivy undergrad cost $16k, including room & board. I put it in an inflation calculator and today that would be around 43k. But instead, it costs 80k at my alma mater.

Also my loans weren't predatory, they were low interest. And I didn't need to take out that much to get by.

I'm glad that those who needed loans are getting some relief, including some members of my family. Am not bamboozled by the GOP push to create resentment at the low rungs of society receiving crumbs while the big wigs feast on caviar.

They would never do that because they perceive the indebted to be a left leaning group.

"I love the uneducated".

You people are so stupid. This absurd forgiveness does nothing to address systemic problems that need to be addressed buy the hallmark of a lazy, intellectually dishonest politician is to throw free money at a problem rather than engage in the difficult task of enacting real reform.

Fake news. No more interest if you make min payments towards current balance.

What you’re discussing there is different from the interest rate percentage, which is set by Congress via law.

That interest rate provision in the Tweet can be dismantled by the next President with the stroke of a pen.
