| My guess is that Anna literally believes her husband is innocent and that is why she is standing by. him - not bc she has to stand by him but because she really believes him. I don't know how though! He is EVIL. |
Thanks, I'm sure his lawyers will advise him to consider taking a plea deal now that his motions were denied, but I wonder if he will insist on a trial...doubt it, but who knows. |
Plus she abandoned them to the house with the parents that got a bunch of their own kids molested by Josh. |
How can she believe him when his own sisters testified that he molested them? Not to mention the child pornography photographs found on his computers. There is belief and there is DENIAL. |
| He was first investigated in 2006. They were married in 2008. No excuse. |
She comes off as kind of a dim bulb. Whether it’s an honest belief that he’s innocent or just deep denial, I don’t know. |
A few things here - 1) there is no "exclusive" access to court documents. They are public record unless they are under seal, but in any case, "a quiet plea deal" is not 10 years in prison. Plus, if that story is correct, Duggar was offered the deal BEFORE he was indicted, which leads to point no. 2; 2) the gov't is unlikely to accept a plea now - by offering before indictment they were basically saying we think we will prove you guilty at trial, but if you just admit your crimes now we will recommend a lesser sentence so that no one has to go through a trial. Now the motion to suppress has been denied and as long as the evidence is what the gov't says it is, there's a very good chance they will get a conviction and full sentence. There's no more incentive for them to make a plea deal. |
| It’s gross to see them smiling as they walk out of the courthouse. Even if innocent, you would think they would look more somber given the gravity and nature of the charges. |
I wouldn’t be so sure. According to a former friend of Josh’s AMA on Reddit everyone knew and Josh had an engagement fall through because of it. Anna’s alternative to being married to Josh is living in a trailer with her family and their billion kids. I think she truly does not care. |
The engagement/courtship thing falling through before Anna is true as far as I can remember. Link to the AMA on Reddit? I need some reading material for this afternoon lol. |
Yup. Sick, sick, sick. |
It was by the guy who did the "I pray you put this journal away" podcast (which is fantastic) https://www.reddit.com/r/DuggarsSnark/comments/n2jg4k/i_grew_up_with_josh_duggar_ama/ |
| The grossest part of Anna marrying Josh despite there being record of his transgressions is that in this culture the dads literally control who their children marry. Anna's father knew he was handing his daughter over to a child molester with a pornography addition, and didn't hesitate to do so. |
Right?! According to the Reddit poster, it was pretty common knowledge in their circles and a bunch of other families had no interest in Josh courting their daughters, so some sense prevailed. Not so for Anna's family or clearly, Anna herself. |
I remember at the time (so like, 2007 or 2008 or whenever they got married?) people on the old Television Without Pity forums questioning why the Duggars, who seemed really upwardly mobile and were definitely not in near-poverty anymore because of the show, and who had political connections to then presidential candidate and successful Governor Mike Huckabee, would have their oldest son and golden boy marry someone from a faraway state who lived in a trailer. |
