Right?! According to the Reddit poster, it was pretty common knowledge in their circles and a bunch of other families had no interest in Josh courting their daughters, so some sense prevailed. Not so for Anna's family or clearly, Anna herself. [/quote]

I remember at the time (so like, 2007 or 2008 or whenever they got married?) people on the old Television Without Pity forums questioning why the Duggars, who seemed really upwardly mobile and were definitely not in near-poverty anymore because of the show, and who had political connections to then presidential candidate and successful Governor Mike Huckabee, would have their oldest son and golden boy marry someone from a faraway state who lived in a trailer.[/quote]
