For the love of all that is holy, have so self awareness of the space in the gym

Nothing worse than when you wake up amped because it is leg day, yet when you finally are able to get to the gym, some nitwit is hogging the only power rack in the entire gym for 90 minutes straight doing stupid exercises.

Today as I was going to the gym, I missed beating this one person in through the floor by literally 10 seconds. Who knew that'd ruin my entire leg day. The person that got in before me got to the damn power rack literally 20 seconds before I was about to and then proceeded to hog it for the next hour and half. They did squats (OK good), but then proceeded to do barbell shoulder presses, then bent over rows, then barbell arm curls, and then deadlifts in front of the damn power rack. Mind you, this is the only damn power rack in the whole damn gym for anyone else to do squats, and the gym has barbells elsewhere to do virtually any of the other exercises. Blows my damn mind how people can go to the gym completely oblivious to simple etiquette and are blind to the fact they don't own a peice of equipment in the gym.

Arm curls in the damn paper rack is soooooooooo annoying. People need to be aware of the space around them at the gym.

Maybe figure out multiple routines? You could have a leg day without a rack. Awareness of multiple attacks for muscle groups also recommended.

I hear you though. Dudes are the worst.

I mean I did do othereg stuff, but there's just no replacing barbell squats.

It was a woman actually hogging it for 90 minutes. The workout made no sense at all.....like she was doing legs, then shoulders the back, and then hamstrings. She was also doing only 2-3 reps some sets and taking 5+ minutes between sets.

So annoying.

Ask if you can work in. If gym hog has no idea they are hogging they won't change their hoggy ways

I have this issue at my small gym. One of the trainers hogs the smith machine which messes with my routine. He literally does not leave that thing and just has client after client back to back on that thing. I've had to change the time I go in but he is still there...all the time. I've now gotten to the point where I just work in, I don't care anymore if his clients have to wait for me to be done with my routine.

I know not for everyone but this is why I love working out at home!! When I got to a hotel gym, I’m like, this suuucks.

You also can't work in, because it is just super inconvenient when you lift vastly different weight and are different heights. You'd have to remove and add multiple 45 lbs plates or more plus adjust the safety arms and starting position heights between every single set.

Forget it.

Use your grown up words.

Why didn't you say something? If the person is doing exercises that could be done elsewhere, perhaps you can politely remind him that you are waiting to use this machine specifically for X, and so could he move to do his other exercises on another machine?

I understand if you can’t speak for some reason but maybe you could use a text to voice thing or a writing pad to communicate.

This sort of stuff is super annoying. People who lack awareness drive me insane .

I think I love you, pp.

Anyone who does arm curls in the squat or power racks should immediately be banned for life from all gyms.

I hear you OP. I like to use hip thrust machine. There is a guy who will go on the machine and do thrusts with no weight. And then chill for several minutes in between sets like he just finished really doing something. I’m like, uhhh you can take you ass to a bench or the floor for all that instead of taking up a machine. Or people that use the smith machine to do pull ups when there are several other places they could do that. People are annoying.

Ask. To. Work. In.

It's not hard. I've never had anybody tell me no.

At worst, they say "Actually I only have 1 set left"
