Sure, but I guess that would be in the calculus for ANYONE considering non-essential travel right now and so far there's not really guidance on not traveling domestically - even though I know what you're saying. This is elective travel but it's also potentially the last time I'll see my family for a while before I can't fly in my third trimester & with newborn (all are a plane flight away), especially if things change in the next few months and none of them can travel to me as planned for baby-related things.

I guess I'm wondering if you were pregnant, would that factor into your decision differently regarding your personal risk, regardless of whether or not you generally think it's a good idea for people to stop traveling for non-essential reasons to help prevent this spreading in general?

I think being pregnant puts you in a higher risk group than if you weren’t pregnant, yes. And I would also consider my husband’s thoughts.

Everyone on here getting ready to get on a plane is bananas. No way would I fly right now- if Fauci and the infectious disease specialists are right, this thing is about to blow up.

My DH is being so damn -- I'll just stupid and not apologize. We're going to spring break, driving, etc. To drive, we pass his parents. They don't live far from us and he wanted to stop in and see them. My MIL just got out of the hospital for pneumonia, is 93, frail as can be. I talked to them and asked if they wanted to postpone. I'm dead set against seeing them, but didn't want to just say "no way in hell are we coming there" and risk offending them. They were both like, "no way in hell are you coming here," so I'm all relieved. My husband is now saying, "that doesn't seem right. I'll talk to them."

WTF man? Do you not see the news?? Are you actually trying to kill your mom?

Are you serious? Of course let him see his mother. If you're worried DH is asymptomatically infected then tell him to stay at least 3 feet away and no hug/kisses.

If you are returning from a couple week long international trip, not a level II/III area, but still....do you immediately send your kids (who traveled with you) back to school or do you self quarantine the whole family for a while?

our school sent an email specific to this, they asked to keep hids home 14-21 days and they will work with you on the work and absence

Because they asked that we not come? And it's not up to me? It's up to them if they want to see us and they're saying no.

What about domestic hotspots like Seattle or NYC? That's probably even worse than some international destinations with no documented cases.

I asked a similar question yesterday and got jumped, virtually. We are still planning on going, but I have checking cancellation policies on hotels on my to-do list. I think it's more likely that they will say that we can't go there vs. we get quarantined there.
