| Going to an evening holiday party - all women in our 40s. We are all supposed to bring something to share - like snacks/apps or dessert. I feel like nothing I bring ever gets eaten at these type of get togethers. Any ideas that are always a hit? Something I can either buy made or make with minimal effort (maybe that's why my offerings never get eaten . . . ) |
| Baked Brie? Chocolate covered strawberries? Caprese skewers? |
| A nice cheese plate. Soft cheese, hard cheese, some grapes or pitted olives, nice crackers. |
| Cannolis. |
|
Goat cheese stuffed dates. With or without bacon.

You have to know your crowd. One group I attend didn’t care for any of my offerings until I started taking baklava, which was a hit. I live in Rockville and would pick up an assortment from Yetka. If you live elsewhere you might find a Mediterranean or Middle Eastern grocery or deli near you through Google.

pp here I should clarify that my group had both men and women and was older than your group. I don’t know if your group would have the same preferences. |
This is your answer right here. I would never eat baklava, even after living in the middle east for years--I just don't like it. I will always eat cheese/charcuterie, some people won't. There is no such thing as an app or dessert that everyone loves or will eat. |
| Trader Joe’s chocolate. You could even make a charcuterie board with it. So easy - and everyone likes to nibble on their holiday options. |
| Baked brie en croute is always popular. |
| Bake some frozen spanakopita |
| Trader joe macarons. |
| I prefer individual finger foods - I think things like baked brie are awkward to eat in a group. Spanakopita, crackers already prepared with a cheese spread and fig jam, cranberry brie bites in puff pastry, flatbread sliced in individual pieces, toasted ravioli, etc. I have also put hummus in little individual cups and stuck celery and carrot sticks in the hummus. |
| I also prefer individual finger foods. For dessert ideas, I’d make smitten kitchen’s brown butter rice krispie treats and make them in a small pan so they are high and I’d cut them small - or, I’d get small clear plastic cups and put a layer of plain whole fat yogurt, then lemon curd and too with a few berries and crumbled granola or graham crackers. |
| Oh, please. Deviled eggs. Inhaled every single time. |
