Bellistri teaches doesn't he? Landon is a bit of an outlier here, as Bordley taught for his entire coaching career, Healy was apparently a better teacher than coach since covid lasted longer than he did as an HC, and McGettigan is a high school teacher.

But the age of the teacher-coach with how much goes into both jobs is probably winding down. Ask yourself if you'd be better positioned to win games coaching PE / working in athletics or dealing with DC parental demands in the classroom.

What’s with all these allusions to crazy DC parents terrorizing coaches and teachers? Doesn’t that have the potential to have the opposite effect of what was intended with the intervention. My DDs would never speak to me again if I complained to a coach or intervened with a teacher. They advocate for themselves.

Seems like a good way to get a permanent bench seat or lock in that “C-“.

Maybe it’s different with big donors, but do you have actual known incidents or is this type of thing just mythology?

You aren't aware of parents that complain to teachers and/or coaches? In the DMV? While blessedly you aren't one, they are very real.

Also, I think the main point was that academic teaching is hard with lots of dealing with parents, and coaching is also hard with lots of dealing with parents, so it would be easier or better to coach while being in an athletic or PE department. Not necessarily that dealing with parents is entirely nightmarish, but that life would be easier if you don't have multiple parent facing roles.

Why would Prep parents be better?

GP is a much better academic school than SJC (look at the college matriculation lists from the past decade). GP is more prestigious than SJC, its has a reputation is nationally known as being one of the only Jesuit boarding schools in the country.

Not to mention, its lacrosse team last Spring by all reputable sources (IL Lacrosse, US Lacrosse) all ranked the Lil Hoyas above the Cadets in the final end of season national polls. The only people who really think SJC was better than Prep last Spring, is the Cadet faithful.

Said it before on here, I will say it again. Nobody other than you Prep parents/alum or whatever you are cares about academics regarding lacrosse other than you. You are not going to impress anyone in this area with you stats and facts about Ivy League admissions. Maybe people who live past the Mississippi will be or south of maybe Chappell Hill. If you spouted this non sense to people on Long Island whose kids are in public schools, they would laugh in your face. They get Ivy admissions all the time. If you want to argue academics, find that thread in another forum. Nobody cares but you.
