Name list! Weigh in and suggest please

Anonymous
We just found out sex of baby (it's a girl!) and are at the beginning of our name search and just looking for ideas -- have not narrowed down at all. But we do have a pretty good sense of the style of name we want based on our last name and our preferences. Here are some names that are currently in the mix. Please feel free to tell me your favorites, which ones you don't like (and preferably explain why), and suggest others that seem in keeping with these picks. All fun right now, it's fine if you don't like a name but if so please suggest something you like better!

Nora
Freya
Thea (maybe short for Theodora)
Lyra
Flora (or maybe Florence and either Flora/Flory for nn?)
Isla
Ayla

... sensing a theme? We are not totally married to two-syllables or "ends with -a" but we seem to be heavily drawn to these.

Nora, Flora, Isla - really nice names. Especially like Nora (short for Eleanor) and Flora (short for Florence). Nora is very popular though if that matters to you.

Ayla, Lyra - ambivalent. A bit too offbeat for my taste.

Freya, Thea - dislike. Frumpy and old lady-ish (not in a good way either)

These are all pretty names. Love Nora and Ayla especially. Isla is cute but seems like it would be constantly mispronounced. Another good one like these: Naya.

Good luck!

Love these names. More options with the same vibe:

Tessa (short for Theodora)
Cara (short for Caroline)
Ara (short for Barbara)
Lila
Maya
Mia (short for Amelia)

Lisa

Bea
Anna

From this Nora and Isla are the most popular. Based on some of the other ones I think you're aiming for more unusual/offbeat so take that into account.

Ayla and Freya are not great. Kind of try hard and will be misspelled.

The rest are fine. Cute on a little girl but still reasonable on an adult.

Lyla Belacqua from the Pullman series comes to mind. I know two baby Freyas.

Arla sounds too much like Aryan for me.

Love Isla

What about Louisa (nn Lucy)?

I just love Flora! I think Florence is a gorgeous name. The older generations won’t agree though. My boomer mom goes on about Florence and Eleanor

Camila/Mila

Love Thea!

How about Iris? (I know DCUM hates this name, but I love it.)
Clara?

Nora is super popular if that matters to you.

I love Freya and Isla. Not a big fan of the rest of your list really. (Actually I do like Flora but I knew a Flora in college who was awful so I can’t get over that association.)

Some name suggestions you might like (at least I think they have similar vibes):
-Lyla or Lila
-Maya
-Cora
-Elodie
-Esme
-Aurora
-Elena
-Greta
