Aunt said just a few cases, mostly in the north. Again that’s the wealthier part of the country so testing may be better. I’m still hopeful about my end of June plans but haven’t bought tix yet. Portuguese are extremely clean people and they’ve been scrubbing everything under the sun to within an inch of its life for a long time.

The reason it started there (wealthier part of the country) is because of travelers.

Ok, but at this point it’s community spread in the US so I don’t think travel matters anymore personally.

NOT TRUE. We don't have a lot of community spread at this point. MOST cases started with travelers. CDC head stated EXACTLY that yesterday.

Are you nuts? They sending National Guard to secure quarantine.

Ny on the list of some universities as guidance not to travel to

See the last one below

Most recent campus updates (from March 10)
University-affiliated travel to Level 3 and Level 2 countries due to COVID-19 as defined by the State Department and the CDC is prohibited. This includes China, South Korea, Iran, Italy and Japan.
Students, faculty and staff returning from Level 3 or Level 2 countries due to COVID-19 will be asked to self-quarantine for 14 days off campus effective immediately.
The University is restricting students, faculty and staff from University-affiliated travel to locations within the United States where a state of emergency has been declared related to COVID-19 and coronavirus. We strongly discourage personal travel to these areas. This includes the cities of Austin and San Antonio in Texas, and the states of California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah and Washington.

We are taking precautions at home (frequent hand washing) but want live our lives. We are not in frequent contact with anyone in the high risk categories but also do not want to inadvertently spread the virus since nobody knows if carriers can be a asymptomatic. So torn...

Cancel. They have some Potential cases now and they are not ready to handle coronavirus at all.

-puerto rican who knows how mediocre the PR government and health care system are.

I have to travel through a small portion of NY to get to my kid's college. I swear I'm going to freaking hold my breath. Considering adding an hour or two to my trip and re-routing through rural Pennsylvania and straight into CT on 84.

Other alternative is gas up well south of NYC, continue through without stopping anywhere in the NJ/NY/CT metro area, and not stop again until I am in and around Hartford.

Have to stay overnight and staying with my sister. No way I'm going to a hotel

You keep posting over and over again. Go get your darn kid and calm down.

I honestly don't understand these questions as well. You have no idea who is and who is not infected and when you travel, there are so many unknowns. The CDC of COURSE is going to be conservative because, can you imagine what it would be like if they said "NO TRAVEL ANYWHERE"? Pandemonium

The CDC head was very clear yesterday during his Q/A with Congress (paraphrasing)

"Travelers are bringing the virus home and seeding their communities. Then they go visit their elderly in nursing homes, and we have a catastrophe like in Washington"

That's as clear as it gets.
You keep selectively leaving off the level of countries. The CDC has yet to officially ban travel outright, I understand this is a serious situation but spreading misleading information is not helpful. Companies and schools have to take an abundance of caution due to liability issues but there’s been no blanket issue from the CDC regarding travel other than limits to level 2&3 countries. When/if that happens we will take appropriate action.

What -- I'm sorry you want the CDC to issue a Level 3 'Do Not Travel' warning to the WORLD?

Also if you're stupid enough not to read warning signs before each individual country gets to Level 3, that's your problem.

I would reroute to stay as far away from NYC as possible. If you must go thru and get caught in a traffic jam, keep windows rolled up.

You have yet to post anything that matches the level of hysteria you’re espousing. Insults are not science, facts or guidance. No one knows exactly what will or won’t happen but intend to monitor multiple news sources, outlets and the CDC. Have a good day.

Yeah, honestly PP (who is going to pick up her kid from college), I say this with genuine concern... I think you might need to talk to someone. It is reasonable to be concerned and practice precaution, but what you are demonstrating is not reasonable. You shouldn't have to be in such a state of panic so I hope that you are able to find comfort somehow, whether through talking to a doctor for a prescription or self-isolating somewhere.

Fauci yesterday:

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, issued a disturbing warning during a White House briefing Tuesday: Americans everywhere need to change the way they live their lives. Right now.
"We would like the country to realize that as a nation, we can't be doing the kinds of things we were doing a few months ago. It doesn't matter if you're in a state that has no cases or one case," Fauci said, referring Americans to the new federal Coronavirus.gov website for details on precautions to take at home, at work and out in the world.

So yeah, it's me

TY. Not going near NYC. Taking 287-15, or the PA route. (83-81-84)

Will not stop anywhere in northern Jersey through Southern CT. Windows rolled up, air circulating in-car only.
