No doubt. Richmond,VA. Prep was smart to go get one. The single biggest difference amongst the top teams. |
Prep lacrosse is the equivalent of SJC FB. Richmond kid, kid from Canada, and will get more DC 2023 Dogs this summer. What a joke. |
Except Prep is a legitimate boarding school—one of the top ones in the country, for that matter. Prep’s AVERAGE SAT score is 1386, and the FOGO you refer to is going to UVA. |
| If I’m a top-rated lacrosse player and have my choice of area private schools to go to, I sure as heck would not choose Bullis. Why would you pick Bullis over Prep or Landon? |
Except that Prep sold their soul for several of the Dogs who ARE NOT GOOD STUDENTS. |
But they will still end up at excellent colleges and be successful in life because they received a first rate education and belong to a strong community. That’s ultimately all that matters. |

This is not the 1980s.
Going to a so called elite private school does not ensure admissibility to a great college. |
But it doesn’t hurt either—especially if you’re an athlete. |
Landon fan - can't imagine they are coaching their kids to make high risk homerun clearing passes that continue to plague them. It's the same coaching staff as the overachieving 2019 Landon squad that took much better Bullis and Prep squads to OT, and basically the same staff since Bordley retired. On the coaching front, maybe as HC announced he was leaving early this year the team isn't coming together with the impending coaching change? |
This one of the most foolish posts on this board. Prep's overall athleticism and depth are superior to the other teams. They have studs at every position group. Their midfield shredded the poles from Landon/Bullis and Prep's LSM/D poles have been the best in the league as well. The 2nd Landon game was tighter at the end because of some young guys getting playing time dropping balls and a some man down goals. The Prep fogo is very good, but the key to this team is the athleticism and depth. This team only had one scrimmage before the IAC season began and has a much higher ceiling than anyone in the league. |
| Agree with the above. Prep has played well in every aspect of the game. The FOGO certainly helps. But team has a mix of 4-5 legit weapons on offense that play unselfishly. Rarely do you see a dumb shot. Although question marks entering the season, the goalie is playing extremely well and the defense has been more than solid. This is not a “but for the FOGO” team by any stretch. |
I give GP credit - all of their starters and every one in the two deep were developed in the program since Freshman year - most played JV the first year; the fogo came in as a Sophomore which is not unusual for a boarding school, but that is it. The goalie, currently a junior, played JV and now will be a 2 year starter. One of their best D poles got zero playing time until his junior year and is now one of the best in the league. The chemistry among the players and on the sidelines reflects a tight knit program vs "me" ball. |
Right. It is a legit boarding school. However, if you are going to claim boarding school as your pass to recruit kids from outside the area, at least make them actually stay in the dorms. Fogo lives w the assistant coach. |

Uh, you don't think colleges look at grades? Playing a sport may help if you're on the fence, but if you have poor grades they certainly (especially excellent colleges) won't consider a player. Of course, you could go to a prep school after graduating to prepare you better for college work. But that's more $. |

How many of GP's starters are seniors?
I know they have a senior attacker going to UMD next year and a middie going to Notre Dame. |
