There are no words for the ineptitude.

Just as there’s no basement for how horrible the GOP can be, there’s seems also to be no basement to their ever loving stupidity. Unreal.

Agreed.

Why do you say this? I hope you are right. As the non fed in our household my stress level is through the roof. We live modestly & have a damn buffer- but jfc. Also, husband is a contractor & won’t get paid. So no, it’s not a vacation.
I’m just anxious that this will happen again, and again.

This is why my DH left the government. He was government and not a contractor so he got paid (eventually) but the stress was too much.

I can’t imagine how much the bathtub GOPpers are enjoying this punishment of gummint workers. They ought to be ashamed, but their souls have long since vacated their bodies, and they are no longer capable of the sensation.

DH has been thinking of quitting for a while. The past two years, especially the last year, have been very tough. Now the shutdown. So much stress.

This is not true. Most of the furloughed workers are outside of DC area. American farmers also care about the shutdown since it is hurting them.

Only 15% of federal workers are in the DC metro area (DC, MD, No. VA)

Yes, but it’s only 800K people out of 320 million. And it has gone on for almost a month. How long do you honestly expect people to care?

Nice try.
The effects are growing exponentially all across the country. And people blame Trump and his Repub minions.

Sorry, but no. Airport security lines are short, planes are flying normally, and the National Mall is trash free, contrary to what the Fake News media would have you believe. The President has the upper hand on this one and can easily keep the shutdown going without losing support. In fact, it’s what his base expects and demands. Stand strong, Mr. President!

Airport in Houston just closed a checkpoint due to staffing shortage. Second airport to do this since Friday.

Nobody cares about Miami. Not PP and not me.

It's coming everywhere. TSA has a hard time keeping people during the best of times. Now more are going to leave and since HR is not essential, they can't be replaced.

How do you know? I think it's going on until February.

This. Is there insider info or just hopeful thinking?

Poll numbers dropping for Trump and GOP. Most blame them for shutdown. Untenable to continue not paying TSA/CBP/air traffic control etc.

The poll numbers are mixed. No one has any idea if or when it will end. But it’s not going to end soon. Probably will go on for at least two more months. Trump has reportedly compromised on his number and agreeing to steel instead of concrete. Is he being clownish and weird? Yes? Do I give a flying f about this wall/fence/thing? No. But it’s time for the Democrats to compromise in turn. Do it for the furloughed feds.

Give in to every stupid f-ing lie and manipulation this insane fat toddler President attempts? That’s his compromise? What the hell is wrong with you?

I also wanted dems to just give him wall money’ @ start. But honestly- he’ll just do it again. My husband is out of work & wont get backpay. It ducks- but I’d rather a long shut down then have this happen every 2 months.
Seeing this play out helps me better understand the stated, but not always exercised, people lift of not negotiating with terrorists.

Yes, he will just do it again in Sept 2019 and make it a full govt shutdown this time.

Don’t feed the power play. If he really wanted the wall he would have accepted the earlier $25B. He’s just trying to play games.

Question, why did Trump have $1.6B in the budget submitted to Congress but is asking for $5B now? Why did this number change from October to December when the GOP held the House?

He Lost 10 points with white, non-college educated people. Not mixed.

That's why he's tweeting like a maniac now.

The idea that you can shut the government down over a pet cause has to end now. You want a wall? Guess what, the place to do that is an immigration reform bill. You want to defund Planned Parenthood? Write a bill. You want to kill Obamacare? Here's a thought: write a bill to amend or replace Obamacare with something else.

So pass the End Government Shutdowns Act to address concerns that the President is acting like a toddler, fund border security, and open the government. Both parties need to compromise--this is about more than partisan politics, it's about the good of the country.

We did fund boarder security. The bill he says he’d sign, until he didn’t.
