No, the conclusion is their policies and procedures are full of holes.

Technicality. One of them was going to be determined to be true but then someone in the CO, who had been back-channeling info to Beidleman while the investigation was ongoing, told the investigator that he had to change that finding.

Firing the superintendent would be a good start.

What good would that do? I read she wasn't even in charge when this happened.

Beidleman is known to be outlandish with his behavior and it should have been corrected a long time ago. They need to put him somewhere not in a school setting with subordinates that feel intimidated. It seems he gets off on power and belittling his staff, especially women.

They need to put him not in MCPS.

maybe we should have focused more on Biedleman instead of this misguided crusade to pin this on McKnight.

Misconduct is one reason for dismissing people. Performance is another. There’s no way you can read that report and give her passing marks on performance. I hope the board is working with her to improve her leadership and management performance.

He should be put in a position where he isn’t directly over employees such as teachers who feel vulnerable weak and threatened. He sounds like he gets off on intimidation and bullying. A clear abuse of power.

Who keeps personnel files? Do files go through the school’s admin secretary? If so she clearly destroyed the files seeing as though she was known to spend ALOT of time with Beidleman outside of school. Will MCPS put anything in place about conduct with employees outside of work hours? Seems they should include that in the code of conduct. I’ve never known a principal to hang out with his subordinates so much. Creepy

Dear Colleagues:

I am writing to provide you an update regarding personnel changes in Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). Dr. Patrick Murphy, deputy superintendent, is no longer employed by the district. I want to thank Dr. Murphy for his service to MCPS and wish him well in his future endeavors.

Within the Office of School Support and Well-Being (OSSWB), Dr. Donna Redmond Jones and Dr. Eugenia (Jeanie) Dawson are currently on leave. To minimize any disruptions, Dr. Peter Moran, associate superintendent, and Mr. David Adams, acting associate superintendent, will be providing supervision to the schools and other staff under Dr. Redmond-Jones and Dr. Dawson in the days ahead. They will follow up with additional details tomorrow, October 12, 2023.

I recognize that leadership transitions may be challenging, and we will continue to update you on any additional staffing changes.

In addition, please do not hesitate to reach out to Mr. Brian Stockton, chief of staff, with any questions at Brian_S_Stockton@mcpsmd.org.

Thank you for your commitment to our staff, students, and communities.

Sincerely,

Monifa B. McKnight
Superintendent of Schools

The Washington Post and IG needs to keep digging. Ignoring complaints was an institutional practice. There are other scandals that are very similar to the Biedleman case that were also ignored. Shuffling around staff that were ignoring complaints doesn’t change the culture or practice.

He should be dismissed from MCPS. Can’t believe there’s any discussion of finding a different job for him in the school system.

If the Damascus principal still has a job why shouldn’t he? That was a way worse offense and cover up.
