It’s definitely a competition. I guess I should have told my youngest daughter to shaddap and go back to sleep because it was…worse in Del Ray?

I don't mean to make it into a competition, but it got really tiring a week ago when people were constantly posting about how SOME homes in Del Ray flooded, and they don't know how people could live in a place like this with rivers, etc, but having zero idea of just how much torrential the rain was in such a short period of time.

And I guarantee the same people sh!tting on Del Ray experiencing flooding are the same people who are now like: "omg, so much rain!" 2" in an hour, or 4-5" in a day is nothing. Laughably nothing.

That said I sincerely hope everyone and their home is safe and without damage.

Are you the person who thinks everyone is jealous of people that live in Del Ray?

I don't think everyone is jealous of living in Del Ray.

But I'm not sure what kind of person would insert themselves into a conversation about home damage from very severe weather in a neighborhood they don't live in, just to comment negatively on that neighborhood, if they didn't have some envy.

NP. My goodness, then take it up with THAT POSTER, in that completely different thread. Not one person in this thread had done anything other than report out and commiserate until YOU came along to make this a competition. Grow up.

Uh, I am, in responding to their comment here.

Provide the time stamp. Not one person has said anything about “why do you live somewhere with two rivers” or whatever in *this* thread. I believe you that someone said something to that effect in *a different* thread. But your comments to them should be to them, in the thread they made them.

Same. I almost called my mom! Then I realized I’m 45 with 4 kids. I AM the mom. So we went to basement!

You made me laugh! We all have these moments, don't worry.

OMG. Not just that. Insane lightning (lit up the entire house even with black out shades), ear splitting thunder, etc. It woke everyone up.

Just chiming in belatedly from NW DC. Never seen so much constant lightening. Made my kids from the third floor come down to the basement with me. Too many big trees around us!

A house in my close-in neighborhood was hit by lightning last night.

Really? We had a lot of rain, loud thunder and lightning in my City of Bowie neighborhood. It woke us up.

Control issues much?

Anonymous wrote:Wow. I had no idea this storm happened and no clue how I slept through it. I’m in Rockville, and am the lightest sleeper ever.

That is surprising. I had me awake for almost an hour. I am near Pike & Rose.

The rain was incredibly intense. Lots of LOUD thunder and lightening. The cat ran behind the couch/against the wall.

BUT, in Friday's storm we lost power, had a tree down and wires in the street. Have not seen any of that this morning.

I’m just south in Lorton and I think we only got a little rain as well. Nothing. Fine with me. The ground is saturated and my neighborhood is full of old tall trees.

I'm sad I slept through it. I love a good storm with tons of lightening.

I hope everyone is safe. Please do not go into your flooded basement unless you are sure that the power is out and the water not charged.

Not anything that woke us up. The ground was wet but not crazy, my DH mowed the yard at like 9 this morning. Its clumpy but not un-mow-able.

The lightning was so bright and constant… not an exaggeration we coukd not look out the window for long. And you couldn’t tell where the lightning was just huge flashes of light everywhere. Crazy!

For us it sounded like the thunder was one long continuous boom for a while— as if a plane was flying low over the house. Really weird.

My kids slept through the entire thing in Bethesda.
I woke up because the closed blinds were letting in a lot of light from the lightning, and the rain was so loud, but apparently, they weren't bothered...

I feel like that wasn’t the storm. It’s supposed to start soon into the night. Is that a different storm system?? I’m in NOVA.

Still in Fairfax County, I think we have gotten really lucky today.
Lots of warnings in Anne Arundel, but are the rest of us out of the words from this storm?
