Settle this debate: PJs in hotel breakfast area

I wear whatever I want in public. I wear pajamas to the grocery store.

Kids- completely fine. Grown ups- I won’t do it- but I wouldn’t judge you for it.

I only read the first few pages, I think absolutely not to a Concierge room breakfast, otherwise, while I wouldn't do it, I don't think it is necessarily rude. However, I often stop in the concierge room after a run to grab coffee - I think it is a little rude, but it doesn't stop me. I wouldn't sit and eat breakfast without showering and dressing.

I think it’s rude and trashy, and insist that we all are showered and dressed before going down there. Most of the breakfasts don’t end until 10, and we’re usually up and ready by 8:30 at the latest, so what’s the difference to just wait a few minutes before being presentable. We don’t stay at super-nice places, but even just at a Hampton Inn, people are at least wearing…clothes, right?

Rude, trashy and inappropriate. They could shower after breakfast, but no, no PJs in a public place like that.

He’s got to be kidding! We will be super casual but look decent. It’s not a trailer park.

My husband will put on shorts and tee shirt when he comes to breakfast at home. Guess what his answer would be!

I am trying not to get squicked out by the thought of wearing pajamas out and about and then wearing them to bed that night. Yuck.

But in terms of appropriate levels of formality for picking up an industrial-grade danish, who cares?

Only if you are a newborn.

What is a concierge room breakfast? I think we are talking about the crappy free breakfast that’s out at a place like the residence inn … I’ve never heard the term Concierge room and I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels.

Crazy thread. I wouldn’t bat an eye at it and I’d do it myself.

Never. All of us, including my kids, get dressed to go down for breakfast in a hotel, even if it's a causal grab-and-go place. It takes minimal effort to change out of PJs into "street appropriate" clothing. I just don't think it's acceptable to wear PJs in public unless you are a patient in a hospital or an infant.

I'm squarely in the "no way" camp. I just cannot understand how people believe the 30 second effort to put on a real pair of shorts/pants and shirt is too much.

My wife is pretty tough when it comes to social customs. She won't even allow me to wear a hat at a casual eatery.

That said, she said a kid on PJ's at a hotel breakfast is fine.

PJs and hair curlers. Might as well go full trailer park.
