Is "sugar" a thing in DMV upper class?

Ha! So true!

Why spend the $?

+1. This area is great for no-strings-attached sex. Women are easy with a capital E!

Because men fear a random would catch feelings and blow up their life. As they say, men aren't paying for the sex, they are paying them to leave.[b]

SO true!! Many find out the hard way after dabbling on Ashley Madison because they think a married woman is a safe bet for no strings.

Are you one of them?

Where did you meet these friends? College? Grow up together? At work? I'm wondering what i the common denominator. I'm also in my 40s and higher income level (lawyers) and I don't know anyone doing this.
And what are the demographics of their wives? Equivalent education and income level to your friends? I just can't imagine in my social circles the wives not noticing a substantial financial outlay.

Some I've know for years, some more recent. Eveyone in my circle is college educated and usually a masters. Wives tend to be career types also.

When you have a high HHI, no one is noticing $1-2k every month. Besides, you usually have a bunch of different accounts and credit cards at that level. No one has time to dig through all that.

$1-2k a month? That’s it?!?

Remember college girls aren't doing it for a living. Your typical GW student (GW is #1 in the DC area in terms of % of undergrads who do this) has all her tuition and room and board covered by her parents. This is fun money to buy fancy clothes, and also just fun to go out with someone mature and wealthy.

Umm just get a real job, then. You can’t find a job that will pay you $250 a week? Willing to lose your dignity and have sex with an old guy... eww. I was poor in college and worked my way through an Ivy. No way would I consider $1-2k a month to have sex with a guy in his 40s. No one I knew would have done it either. Just yuck.

NP. When I was in college I totally would've gone for an arrangement like this for ~$2k a month. Different people look at it differently but to me, I don't think there's anything undignified about the casual sex & it's decent money for something I would've found less obnoxious than working a more traditional job. Better/fewer hours and more enjoyable. Definitely not for everyone though.

Maybe if the guy is not married but why go for an old married guy that likely has a wife and kids? Just for a little money?

It really is. Women are easy to find for NSA sex in this area. I've doneit for just over 15 years.

I imagine a lot of sugar daddies are married and NSA sex may not be that easy for them to obtain on a regular basis without the risk of it blowing up in their faces. How many single women are willing to only meet behind closed doors, for a few hours a week and be guaranteed to not catch feelings? The $$ evens out what would otherwise be a very lopsided arrangement.

It’s one that can end at any moment. Important to invest in retirement account while having bills paid. I knew a young woman who had a house and clothing allowance; and guessing she had a few side clients to pad income. In DC. It ended when retired and personal expenses were more measured, he’s still married. She lost her apartment.

I have some friends who are sugar daddies. You're probably thinking these are balding guys in their 50s who are sloppy and with a huge beer belly. They aren't like that at all. They are all fit, dress well, and are charming. Remember these are successful people in their career, and you usually need to have those characteristics to do well in your career anyway.

Also I've found that women in their early 20s aren't thinking about marriage or long-term, so being married isn't a big deal to them. I've been out at bars and social events and talking to women that age, and when they ask more probing questions like do I have a girlfriend, I point to the ring on my finger. They don't even think to look at that age. Now, talk to a woman in her late 20's or early 30's and they notice it right away.

I don’t believe these low prices. I was young and supported by my parents and I even LIKED going out with older men but if someone was going to pay me for sex, it would have taken a lot more than $1-2k. The men doing this stuff are universally gross. They’re paying women who really need the money for sex with some delusion about how they’re all rich college students. Rich college students do not have sex for $1k/month.

Christ, the way people are raised these days. My family would be horrified if I were committing adultery by screwing married men. It may not be your marriage, but it is very low morals/character to not respect someone else's marriage. Karma will come bite you in the *ss down the road.

Then again, I'm talking to women selling their p*ssy for $ so morals are obviously not there.

You may be correct. Presumably rich college students don't work at Starbucks either. The OP did ask about the upper class. Many of the responses in this thread may be more relevant to middle and lower income folks for whom 1-2k a month is a nice addition to their income.

One in Southern Maryland on the water and one in the Shenandoah Valley in the mountains. I can easily pay $5k to $10k a month for a young attractive girl. But, in the end it's the same as dating. Sugar daddy and dating are the same. It's just one is PREDEFINED by money.

Blah.

That’s what my husband makes ($400-500k) and I make $200k so $700k HHI. We own 3 homes outright. I would notice if he wasted our $ on some whore.

Our HHI is 1 million. I would notice $5-$10k easily

Honestly, $400K is not a lot of income. We make more than that as a couple and I would notice $1K-$2k per month as well.

I did because I was cooking this morning and ended up with an extra spoonful of granulated sugar that I didn't want to put back into the bin, because it might have a tiny bit of flour in it. I just popped that heaping teaspoon into my mouth. Wow. So delicious. Such a fun childhood memory.

I absolutely recommend it if you haven't done it for a while.

As to your topic; I have never known anyone involved in such an arrangement. No one I associate with has the money to do it. I assume it is a rich person/TV thing.

I thought it was about Domino sugar too. Disappointed.

I thought it was going to be about whether rich people in DC call their partners the nickname, “sugar.” Sounds like something an old timey Southern rich man would do.

This was what I thought too!

Fomer sugardaddy here and that's what I heard too. The attitude was "Well, I could go out with the penniless guys my age and sleep with them, or a more interesting older man and sleep with them, and earn some $$ too."

Some women list on their profile specifically that they won't date married men. I (when I was a sugar daddy) listed "Prefer not to say" for relationship status, which they know means married, but also avoids some blackmail scammers who search on people who put "married" specifically.

Quote simply, no. There are plenty of women at that age especially, who just don't care.
