Also, and I know you dont know the club so not taking it personally, FCGB at the younger years is not very strong but that is because they have there best kids playing up with the older ones filling out rosters. They are not as weak as they may appear on paper and they start pushing the kids towards age only at the u14 or so age group

+1. Why do people make such asinine comments about a club they have no idea about?

Have not actually played Bethesda recently but we were competitive with MD united in the fall. The coaches are really good. They do not have the talent pool across most years that the larger clubs do but when they do get talent they manage it really well. I think our team is probably the top of the club but the 07 got suddenly very strong this year. At the 06 year the merger of Bethesda and Rush freed up a player or two and we were already good. Dont know the 07 team well enough to say why but they are also very good and at the top of the EDP. If they can put together a couple more years like these two teams they have a chance to stick around.

I too know nothing of FCGB. I see the 2006 team will play Loudoun ECNL team at the Loudoun showcase, so what a great test. Plus, they'll play a VDA team that's top in the area and Beach FC, which I believe is a CCL team. Quite the range in talent in that group. The same FCGB 06 team is in the 2nd tier of the Jeff Cup too, very competitive!

I don't understand why but the training has not translated to success at developing elite players. If the focus is for DD to learn technical skills and have fun, then FCGB is the place. If your goal is the next level, I would think twice.

My thoughts on why they don't have as much success at the oldest ages is because it's such a small club, they don't get as many of the natural athletes. Those who could make ECNL teams from the beginning won't consider them. With the 06 team they were lucky enough to get a group that trusted them and it's translating to success. If the coaches were to get a chance to work with a athlete pool that the bigger clubs get, it would be an amazing thing to watch what they produce.

This is very true. FCGB has to compete to get athletes with much larger/known clubs in the area such as BSC, Potomac and even MSI.

What should we say about NOVA ECNL with Loudoun virtually losing every age group with one exception systematically amd BRYC just doing about the same thing? Please elaborate

Loudoun is no great shakes as far as ECNL goes, but they don’t “lose virtually every age group”. Anyhow, would love to have FCV and Arlington in girls ECNL and still keep all the other local ECNL too. It would cut down travel time.

FCV enjoys beating clubs in GA by 5 goals. They have zero desire to get outside that lax bubble. Some of them will have to face true tests at the Jeff Cup.

Im sure Bobby would prefer to be in the ECNL, he will have to work harder to get his players recruited, convince parents the level of play will not hurt players development. Find higher quality matches. FCV does deserve to be in the ECNL, it does suck that politics will block it from happening

“Convince parents”. Lol. Poor players whose parents fall for this.
