This is a question for the expert soccer parents:
When watching the Girls ENCL teams compared to watching EDP Div 1 teams play: 1. Are ECNL players that much faster, more skillful, bigger/stronger, and smarter (soccer IQ)? 2. Without knowing the teams that are playing, can you tell they are ECNL teams based upon they way & how they play? |

Because of infrastructure and time ECNL is lauded as highest/best environment. EDP is not too far behind. I’ve seen teams in EDP that can beat ECNL teams easily.
In fact, our area’s ECNL teams are all very weak and mediocre with the exception of Richmond - some clubs are riding the wave but will eventually be removed due to gross underperformance |
My lord, you live on this forum and never stop. How many times do you post this a week. Lmfao. |

| “Our ECNL teams in this area are weak except Richmond”...did you write the first post asking the question just so you could type that sentence? 🙄 |
What?? You must’ve been dropped at birth or something. It’s the first time I post about EDP. |
I was. And you have posted this before on other threads |

I’m the OP and was not intending this to be an ECNL vs EDP fight.
I was just learning/understanding what it takes to standout in an ECNL tryout. Not many local ECNL girls games that are on YouTube that I can watch. |
What age group and what team are you looking to join. Some harder than others to make. Got to be more specific. |
And by the way....film will not help you because kids are equalized by other kids of similar level. A star in EDP could be an average player in EDP. There are some EDP players that are better....but it’s the exception not the norm....at least at the older age groups. At the younger age groups, anything’s possible. |
1) Run faster, are bigger and more physical. Skill and soccer iq is not something that is selected- it’s just not that important at this level and hard to find. It is too difficult to build a team that depends of that. 2) No it’s mostly athleticism and 2-4 players that make the difference. A few try to build through the midfield but if you do not have the players in midfield it does not work. Nothing wrong with it. It’s just hard to develop skilled midfields. The system is not set up for that and they are really young. |
Analysis from a u12 dad. |
Does that make it untrue? Many of the teams i have watched certainly appear to adhere to these comments. |
It’s spot on. Good(not great) athletes can be dominate at the high school and below. A great athlete will totally dominated. It happens in every sport. Some will do well at the next level most will be average or below. |
