| The max roster size is 25, but from what I saw at tryouts, this team does not have 25 players good enough to go against the competition that the team will face (Hawks, Tigers, etc). My guess is that MadLax is trying to round up players from elite teams not playing WSYL (Looneys, Crabs, etc) within the 100 mile radius. Once those efforts are complete, they will round out the roster with whomever they can. |
Do not forget when these teams appear weaker than the HOCO or summer version of these clubs.....age based makes a difference. |
| Haven't you heard - the Hawks have "very few" holdbacks and the only reason their kids are so big and they will all their games is that they work harder than your kid. Now go hit the wall and stop being such a creep focusing on other kids' age. |
But I keep reading that Madlax (and others) in VA do the same... if you live in antique glass houses don't throw old ass bricks. |
| Is Madlax still planning to hold that Feb 28th tryout. |
Didn't Baltimore Crabs send its kids to the Black Ops tryouts? |
Nope. Crabs doing something else. |
| Rosters posted and additional try out on 2-28-21 |
| 2-3 non ML boys on the 14U team and 0 non ML boys on 13U! |
What players are out there that haven’t committed to a team yet? Is ML is looking for kids who didn’t make other teams? |

They have room to add 4 on U14, and 8 on 13U. The players on the rosters so far are mostly or entirely from MadLax. They probably are recruiting from teams within 100 miles, such as Looneys, who are not playing WSYL, and from the three Black Ops programs for players that were overlooked, or who might prefer Monument to get more playing time. Once those ponds have been fished dry, they will fill remaining spots with kids from outside programs who already tried out, or in the case of U13, pull up from their own 2027 team.
I have no inside info but that is my take on what they are doing. |
I completely agree, with this though process. Unfortunately because Black Ops spread out the positions among the three teams, there was a lot of talent not picked up. |
| Madlax keeps hoping players are going to show for these tryouts to squeeze out some more tryout money but the good players from other programs haven't showed at the 2 tryouts. They will either fill the roster by pushing up the older 27's in the the 13u's and 26's into the 14u's or they will simply cancel the team. I don't think Cabell wants to go the qualifier and get beat badly but he likes money so he might not care. |

The way the Monument teams are shaping up they are not likely to advance out of the qualifier, but they are not going to be blown out either. They do have 2/3 of the rosters from their 2025 and 2026 teams, which are both top 10 in the country. They don't have the depth of a team like Black Ops that combined three programs, but they are not that far behind, and they have played together for years, rather than just a couple of practices, which according to this board have not even been scheduled.
Last time I checked MadLax was a for profit business, so of course they like money just as any business. The real money is in the teams themselves, not tryouts, so I do not see them canceling, nor will they leave $$ on the table by having rosters of less than 25 players. As a prior poster said, I am sure they are trolling for a couple more studs on each team, and will then fill out the rosters with whomever they can get. |
Wrong..all the talent was picked up. |
