My kid was regular. Just got off the WL. Must be more slots now because of internationals not showing up. Good year to be on a WL. Assume we gotta go. Apprehensive about sending her across the country. Still WL at an Ivy so we will see. Was going to a top 15ish SLAC with merit. But can't see a world where you turn down Pomona even full pay.

Wow amazing. Pomona is as hard to get into as top tier Ivy League schools. With all due respect to your kid, don't know if this happens without COVID.

Ha I was the Pomona poster...and not going to disagree...silver lining in Corona.

Would be interesting to know if waitlist moves come with financial aid. Or are these full-pay students?

Pomona is a need-blind institution so it should keep those files separate.

In theory yes. That’s what Pomona would have you believe. Since this is an anonymous board, the chosen students whose waitlist moved can provide a valuable public service if they can disclose if they are FA recipients or are full pays.

I saw a reddit poster recently saying that they got in through the waitlist, and the total cost is 3Kish. So yes, they've been admitting FA/needy students also.

Anyone who matters has heard of Pomona. Believe it or not, for many of us, we don’t care what schools Joe Schmoe has heard of or if the people on the Beltway will be impressed by a Pomona sticker.

I know many people who have never heard of Pomona. They matter, you elitist snob.

This is a childish response. Please refrain from adding anything more to this thread.

I am not certain, but I believe Pomona was in the news in the past because its admin did everything to harass and retaliate against a woman student or women students for coming forward about campus sexual assaults. My memory on this issue is fuzzy. But Google is your friend and can tell you more.

If Pomona is having trouble recruiting women students, it may have to pay them to come.

Pomona does not have trouble recruiting women students. It's one of the most desirable SLACs in the US.

Sounds like Pomona women are getting raped left and right and college wants to keep everything hush-hush. Try to pay attention.

“ Another way of looking at the data is to analyze rape report totals in the context of the size of enrollment. The Post analysis found these 10 schools had the highest total of reports of rape on their main campuses per 1,000 students:
- Reed College: 12.9 (reports per 1,000)
- Wesleyan: 11.5
- Swarthmore College: 11.0
- Knox College: 10.0
- Williams College: 8.9
- Pomona College: 8.5
- Bowdoin College: 8.3
- Gallaudet University: 8.1
- Beloit College: 6.9
- Dartmouth: 6.7“

Where?

Seems as if this is Pomona’s MO. Hush hush - no reports of rapes, no problems. Same as Trumps’s coronavirus policy - no tests, no confirmations, no problems.

My daughter is at Pomona and this is a ridiculous assertion.

Your daughter’s not gonna tell you she or her friends were assaulted. Try to pay attention.
